Snow

Drifting gems
Lost in midwinter's mood
Lattice-like wonders vanishing
Into blank abandon

Priceless marvels
More worth than a king
Scattered carelessly like seed
Crushingly ephemeral

They'd weep as they fell
Not regret, no, but outrage
At snide dismissal of their souls
But beauty does not weep -

- it is cold
Disparaged into dispassion
Winter its sole solace
Where it rules, yet languishes
