Karaoke Night

The folks fell asleep on the couch and I had two friends over. We came downstairs and saw them crashed out and snoring. So, what else are some teens to do? Go out for the night. Yippee. I grab the keys to the cool car and we head out to town.

When we reach town we park in the center parking lot and go to the mall. At one end there are restaurants and non shopping places, movie theater and the such. And the Crash Dummy Hole. This is where we are heading. We have our fake IDs and we put some make up on and feel good. We aren't going to go anywhere near the bar, no questions, no trouble. We just want to sing and dance. We have bottles of water under our jackets and we head toward the door. The bouncer checks us out , smiles and opens the door for us.

"Hi, thanks" I say.

"Yeah, hi." sys Tina.

"Hi cutie" says Bella.

When we get in we laugh and run to a corner.

"I can't believe what you said. "I say toward Bella. We laugh some more and then we start looking around. None of our friends are here, but we are looking for any other high school kids. We think we are the youngest and that we look at least college age.

"Hey, hey , hey. It is still Karaoke night. So come on up and sing your heart out." says the DJ.

"You go first." says Bella as she turns toward me.

"Yeah." Says Tina.

"Get out. I drove us here. Isn't that enough?" I say.

"No!" they both answer.

"Oh, alright." I say. I am a ham. And I go toward the stage. The DJ helps me up and he shows me the menu of songs. I look down the list. OK, I pick one of my favs and the DJ introduces me.

"Now ladies and gentlemen. I am proud to introduce for the first time, this so-called legal girl over here...what's your name?" says the DJ

"Call me Sunny Days" I say.

"Alright, put it together for Sunny Days. You go girl." whooped the DJ.

The lights dim and come back up I have the microphone.

"This is from a country singer, but I think everything she sings is pop. I love you Taylor." I yell at the end. The music begins.

Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see
What I want and I need
And everything that we should be

I'll bet she's beautiful
That girl he talks about
And she's got everything
That I have to live without

Drew talks to me
I laugh 'cause it's just so funny
I can't even see
Anyone when he's with me

He says he's so in love
He's finally got it right
I wonder if he knows
He's all I think about at night

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do

Drew walks by me
Can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly
The kind of flawless I wish I could be

She better hold him tight
Give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes
And know she's lucky 'cause

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do

So I drive home alone
As I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down
And maybe get some sleep tonight

'Cuz he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart
He's the song in the car I keep singing
Don't know why I do

He's the time taken up but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into
Drew looks at me
I fake a smile so he won't see

The music ends. My friends rush me on stage and we group hug. Tina says,

"I know who you are thinking about, and true love will work, know it does." she smiles warmly. Bella is just nodding her head and crying. Then she points. Guess who was in the back of the bar...OMG! Him!

The end. Never...
