Chapter 2: Polyphloisboian

Her eyes moved beneath her closed lids, jumping side to side feverishly as though she had been caught in a nightmare. Aurora rolled over to her side, her shoulder lightly rubbing against something. She tried to move, but that thing wouldn't allow her to do so. Annoyed out of her mind, she woke, glaring at this thing before realizing what (or rather, whom) it was.

Her breath caught in her throat as her body went stone still.

His face at the moment was peaceful, free of menacing wrinkles caused by sneers or animalistic snarls. Even in his sleep though, there was still something about him that remained deadly.

Aurora slowly lifted herself from the bed, staring at him as she did so. Luckily, the slow rise and fall of his chest told her he was still asleep. At the pace of a snail, Aurora turned her head to stare into the small camera which lay perched in the corner of the room. She stared at it before she slowly began moving her mouth, talking to it.

He's asleep, she told it wordlessly.

Her father had put a surveillance camera in the room just in case something had gone askew (not that anything had until this). Aurora knew there had to be a group of men watching them behind that screen.

Aurora's ears heard the distinct sound of heavy footsteps climbing the narrow passage of stairs that led to the attic. Her heart literally lurched in her chest at the possible hope of freedom. Her eyes darted to Orion's face - he was still asleep. Swallowing her fear, Aurora ever so cautiously crawled off the bed, freezing at times when feared Orion was on the verge of waking.

The door creaked open, causing Aurora to freeze. She stared angrily at her brother, who, while poking his head through the door, franticly urged his sister to pick up the pace. Right, she mentally snorted, as if she could.

When Aurora finally reached the cold, wooden floor, her emerald eyes concentrated on the door as she quietly, tip-toed towards her brother. She narrowed her eyes at her father who hovering above Richard, motioned to her with his hands. He wanted her to run.

She wasn't willing to risk a full sprint to the door. She knew that if Orion were to be awakened by even the softest sound from her padding feet, he would be on her in an instant.

After all, that fucking turtle did win the damn race.

Aurora's blood spiked when, while preoccupied with quietly cursing her brother, she accidentally misjudged one of her careful steps. Her foot landed on an old board in the room that had failed to be replaced. The board creaked and groaned angrily. and, unable to help herself - Aurora gasped. A sound loud enough to wake her captor.

Her brother proved her theory correct.

"Aurora, run!"

At the back of her head she heard her father's frantic voice, her brother's voice full of panic. But that didn't match up to the man who was crouched above her. Orion had jumped off the bed and grappled the woman. As she fell on the floor, her body turned so that her back slammed into the wooden floors. Aurora felt fear wash over her, staring wide eye at the crazed eyed patient who hovered above, snarling viciously at her as if he were a wild animal.

Without warning, Orion leapt from the bed, easily entrapping his charge before grappling her down. As she fell, Orion viciously yanked her left arm upward, twisting her body like a yo-yo so that it was her back slamming against the floor instead of her chest. While staring wide eyed at the crazed patient hovering above - snarling as though possessed by a wild animal - Aurora felt an acute fear tear through her. Somewhere in the back of her mind she could hear the familiar voices of both her father and brother, each sounding panicked and scared in the frantic moment. Their words failed to reach her though, for while she stared into the face of this terrifying, deadly man crouched before her, her family barely registered as white noise in her head.

Aurora could do nothing but watch with terrified eyes as Orion continued to bare his teeth and growl - a deep vibrating thrum eliciting from his chest. His haunted, obsidian eyes were wide, pupils dilated to a point where they (along with the dark, ugly smudges hidden beneath his hypnotic gaze) offered a sinister, inhuman appearance. The angry, unnatural wrinkles adorning his nose deepened with his scowl.

His roar ripped through the air.

Aurora plastered herself against the wooden floor, knowing that there was nothing her brother or father could do. Soon enough, she heard the door close as doctors dragged her family away, screams and yells renting the air. She stared into Orion's eyes, eyes full of danger.

Orion snarled, removing himself from his fallen pack mate. He narrowed his eyes, knowing that rules needed to be created and followed. He refused to have a member of his pack disrespecting their Alpha.

He stood at his full height, glaring down at her silently. The smell of her fear suffocated the tiny room, reassuring him on a primitive level that she at least knew somewhat of her place in his pack. Orion glared at her until he saw her body lower itself to the ground till she lay plastered against it. Her head lolled to the side but her eyes never closed.

Aurora was breathing hard, her heart beating furiously against her chest. She didn't know if the submissive posture she had done yesterday was going to have any effect today. All she could do was hope he didn't tear out her throat. Her green eyes concentrated on the wooden floor, her lips parted as she breathed in and out.

When Orion took a step closer, Aurora felt tears spring from her eyes and drain down her cheeks.

"What do you want?" she sobbed, hands clenching into fists. "Why are you doing this to me?"

Orion stared at the female, his ears perking at the sound of sniffles. He continued to stare down at her until she had enough courage to look up at him. There were wet, dew drops sticking to her eyelashes, a couple of them cascading down her face. It was something he had seen other humans do.

A small candle suddenly sparked in her chest, burning with fury. This was a psychotic man who acted like an animal, treated her like shit and constantly pushed her around. Though it had been only a day and a half, she was sick and tired of it. Defiantly, Aurora narrowed her eyes at the man. "Well?" She pushed herself to her feet, not noticing how the small action had made him snarl. "What the hell do you want from me?!" she screamed.

In a split second, the wind rushed out of her lungs as she was once again pinned to the ground.

Thecrazed, animalistic man tackled her, snarling like a beast. Dark eyes brimmed with rage and anger. There was a wild, angry expression on his face. Aurora's candle was immediately doused. She gasped as he bared his teeth at her, snapping furiously. In panic, she pushed against him with her hands, trying to throw him off.

Orion was burning mad when she touched him. No one touches the alpha.

Aurora screamed in shock when he suddenly jumped off of her. His hand reached down and grabbing her around the neck, began to squeeze. Her hands jumped to his, trying to pull his fingers away. A deepening growl made her freeze. She knew what he was doing. He was trying to assert his dominance over her and though Aurora wanted to fight till her death (not really), she knew she wouldn't stand a chance.

Aurora slowly allowed her shaking hands to fall to her side, plastering them against the wooden floors. She let out a shaky breath, closing her eyes. Aurora could feel her wet, spiky eyelashes stick together. Every part of her body was still as a statue and yet her nerves refused to stop shaking.

Orion snorted, but did not release his hold as he hovered above her, hand still wrapped around her neck. He bent down till his cheeks were right next to hers, nostrils flaring to take in her scent. A satisfying growl reverberated in his chest at her blatant submission.

She took in a small gasp of surprise.

The wolf boy, the wolf man retreated from her, loosening his grip. He waited as she opened her eyes, curling his lips and tightening his hand around her neck once she did. Within a second, he released her and sat back, watching with dark eyes.

Once she was free, Aurora scrambled backwards till she felt the wall behind her, and then crawled to the corner of the room, eyes glued to his figure the whole time.

Orion did nothing but stand.

She held a hand to her mouth as if afraid she'd scream and cause him to go ballistic.

He sat on the bed and continued to stare at her. There was a fierce frown etched on his face as he watched her tremble. Though he wanted to show who the Alpha was, he did not want her to avoid him. A pack stayed together. He snorted, scratching his arm with his hand as the blue, white cloth brushed against his fingers. Orion narrowed his eyes at the sight of it.

It was thin, soft and fabric-like. Typical blue elastic pants and a white shirt. Ever since he'd entered this damn place, they constantly made him wear useless clothes. They also had slippers for him but he never wore them, hating the uncomfortable and unnatural footwear that never permitted him free movement. Orion growled, pulling at the band. What use were they? What the hell did he need them for?

Aurora closed her eyes at the instant Orion pulled the white shirt over his head. Oh god. She didn't know what to do. Fear laughed at her, taunting as it gripped her bones tight. Was he capable of the normal, sane conscience of humanity? Or did he simply live off the bases of an animal's principle? She shivered, her body pressing closer to the wall as if to search for some type of security.

Not that she'd ever find it.

There was no sound. Nothing at all.

She didn't want to open her eyes. The last time she had she'd been placed in a situation not even the doctors could handle. Her mind constantly revolved with questions. Why weren't the police or the swat there? She was sure that her father would've contacted them by now. After all, she was stuck with a madman.

The silence got to Aurora and instinctively she opened her eyes.

She immediately regretted it.

Orion snarled at the high pitch scream that tore through the air. He narrowed his eyes as his pack mate scrabbled back against the wall, staring at him in horror. She turned and started to claw the wall, making him cringe at the sound. He strode over, grabbing her wrists to keep her from harming herself.

Aurora screeched, throwing herself to the ground. Gods, this man was naked! She closed her eyes, beginning to struggle against him - no way in hell was she going to let him rape her! When Aurora felt his hand brush against her chest, she exploded. Throwing her body around, she wildly flung out her arms and leg, trying to hit him.

Furious with her defiant behavior, Orion calmly pinned her to the ground. To remain calm was important. It kept his mind on correcting her mistakes and not on ripping her throat out. He wanted to make his pack mate calm down. Instead, she started fighting. He did not have the patience to deal with such behavior and actions.

Her body froze the instant Orion laid himself against her. Her breathing stilled, stuck in her throat as she felt every part of his body pressing, hard against her own. She willed her eyes closed, biting down on her lip to stop the whimper of fear that threatened to break free. She felt him move above her and immediately shuddered at the feeling. The need to vomit was intense, but she held it down. Aurora shifted her head to the side, trying to block everything out.

But she couldn't. Could anyone really ignore a naked man lying on top of them? She felt every hard plane of his chest against hers. His heart beat was slow, calm and fierce, dominating her own fast-paced, quivering one. The muscles of his legs pressed flatly upon hers, just as his hips ground against her own.

He was immensely pleased. His pack mate had finally ceased her struggles. Orion leaned down and nuzzled her, giving her small licks here and there on her face to show her he didn't have any hard feelings. Her tears were salty. It was important to put her in place, but even though she'd fought against him, she was now limp. A pack relied on each other for survival, so there must be good terms between the two.

Aurora tried to move her hand, but Orion's grip tightened.

He growled, pinning her wrists on the ground when they trembled with the intent of action.

The room buzzed with silence.

Orion grunted, his hands lessening their grip. His fingers slowly rubbed both her wrists, silently telling her that he was satisfied with her paralyzed movements. Orion watched as tears collected, shining beneath her lashes before trailing down her face. He sneered in displeasure.

He despised the weak, his pack mate must not be weak.

Aurora quietly lay there and despite trying to contain her tears, she felt the hotness of them soak her face. She didn't want this. What the hell had gone wrong? What the hell had shedone to deserve this? A tiny whimper scampered out of her mouth as she felt him leaning towards her face. She didn't dare open her eyes.

Orion's lip trembled, lifting slightly as he let out a growl. She was weak (pathetically weak) and it was upsetting him more and more by the second.

He grabbed her roughly by the shoulders, shaking her about. Slamming her into the ground a few times, Orion let out a tremendous snarl. He ignored her silly cries, furious and frustrated. Releasing her roughly, he stood up.

Aurora's arms came up and circled around herself as soon as the man-beast stood. She sobbed, crawling back to the corner of the room as she gazed up at him fearfully. Her hands were fisted in clothes, holding tight as if grasping onto sanity. She was scared, oh so scared of the man who stood before her. His next move was unavoidable and unimaginable. She couldn't tell what he wanted to do next.

The sobbing woman tried stifling her cries by pressing a fist against her lips, teeth biting painfully into her knuckles. Through her blurred vision, she looked at out the window at the midday sun. It was barely after twelve.

Orion watched as she turned away from the window, pain etched on her face. He narrowed his eyes, staring down at her with an intense gaze that she refused to return.

The rumble in his chest magnified. When submitting to the Alpha, those in lower status never look into the Alpha's eyes. If done, it was a sign of disrespect; a signal of challenge. Orion was the Alpha in this pack. He would never allow someone so weak to try and dominate his position. Turning, Orion sat on the floor and continued to stare at her.

What had gone wrong? Why was she acting like this? All he'd done was strip away the useless human cloth and approach her. He wanted to smell her again, try to memorize her scent so that if she were to suddenly disappear or run, he could always track her down. He wanted to commit her physical attributes and smell to memory but at the slightest step towards her, she'd rampage and scream.

To fight against the Alpha was inexcusable .

He needed to teach her a lesson, to teach her that no matter what, there was no going against the Alpha's will. Though at that moment, he didn't dare do so. Her state was on the brink of insanity; she continued to fight, scream and to growl. Maybe she simply needed time to adjust to the idea of a pack.

How long had she been without one?

Aurora eyed a closet against the wall and slowly crawled over, whimpering and sniffling as she moved on all four towards it. Once she reached it, she turned to Orion and immediately whipped her head back down. He was looking at her, sitting on that flower patterned bed in his birthday suit. She gagged at the thought of it and quickly slid inside the closet. Within a few more seconds, the sliding door closed and she was in the dark.

The wooden floor cooled her heated skin; the coolness of it seeped through the epidermis. Aurora let out a shuddering breath, leaning against the dusty floor so that her cheek laid upon it. The dark space squeezed around like a fist clenched around a rabbit's neck, tensing by the minute, waiting for it to snap. The sounds were deafening, silent and still. She curled up and closed her eyes .

Orion continued to stare at the closet with a dead panned expression: calm and steady.

He'd let her continue her small tantrum. She was new to his pack, and so he was willing to permit her a small amount of freedom. Though he knew he should be stricter, Orion did not wish to frighten or possible run her out of the pack. He narrowed his eyes, he needed more members.

But where could he find them?

Orion stared at the door, his face blank with concentration. The time would soon come in which they would be forced to leave. The constraints, the cage, the barriers, it was enough to drive any animal wild. Not once since he'd been here had he been allowed to leave, to be given freedom. Orion snorted, they had absolutely no idea of what he was, and he intended to keep it that way: by escaping.

He was not so foolish as to defeat the humans mindlessly, he was aware the consequences.

His lips tightened as he stared at the wooden floor boards. He needed a pack, needed to group together members. Orion sat there and thought of possible future plans.

It felt as if she'd been asleep for merely a moment, but Aurora knew it had been longer. She peeled open her sore, puffy eyes, gazing through the darkness around her. Letting out a shuddering breath, she slowly picked herself up from the ground. The closet slid open.

She hissed, holding out a hand as the light burned her eyes. "Goddammit." She held her hand against her face and rubbed her eyes, they felt tingly and irritatingly horrid.

Orion frowned, watching as his pack mate gently clawed at her eyes. He waited, sitting there silently. The wolf man slightly narrowed his eyes at the window, the sky was dark.

Two hours previous , he had heard others at the foot of the door. They'd attempted to enter and take his pack mate (he'd assumed) until the door was wide enough to see a ferocious, dark look on Orion's face. The measly humans disappeared to return with a small, silver object. Orion had felt small pinpricks but did not panic. He calmly brushed off the metallic flies and continued to stare at the slightly opened door. Within a half an hour, they had disappeared and never came back.

He frowned, glancing at the door once more. He and his pack mate should relocate soon, it was growing too dangerous here for them. Though he knew he would be able to handle them, he wouldn't dare put his pack mate in danger. The thought of harm done to his small pack made a slight growl slither out of him.

Her breath hitched at the familiar sound. Aurora whimpered, looking up to see Orion before her. Suddenly, he reached out and gripped her by the wrist. "No! No, please, no!"

Did she not understand? Did she not understand that a pack must be together at all times? He let her have her small, foolish tirade and now it was time to end it. Orion narrowed his eyes. She wasn't really forced into the pack. Regardless, she and he both needed a pack. A lone wolf could not survive; that he knew. Orion pulled her out of the closet, ignoring her struggles. The day had grown dark and it was time to return to the den.

Aurora grunted, trying to pry his fingers off her arm. Knowing it was useless, she gave up, allowing Orion to do as he wanted. Honestly, she wanted to die. She didn't want to be here and Aurora had a hint that death would be a better option than this. She sniffed, stiffening her body as she allowed him to drag her. She groaned in a mixture of depression and frustration when she noticed he was still nude.

Why hadn't anybody bothered to help her? Why wasn't her father or her brother fighting to release her from this demon's hands? Was she not missed?

Aurora was on the bed, pushing into the corner once again. She sat there, staring at the flowery pattern bed sheet as she did yesterday. Slowly, she looked up at Orion, looking straight into the depths of his dark eyes. "Why?" Her voice was small, weak. "Why are you doing this to me?"

Orion did nothing but look back at her.

Her emerald eyes strayed from his face to his naked chest. She had taken many art classes, and a few required her to draw the naked body. Yet even though she'd seen many nude female and male bodies, she was uncomfortable with Orion's. He was from the asylum: his mind crazed and psychotic to the point where Aurora didn't know when nor why he'd attack.

The night was frigid and cold, the sound of the wind soft yet audible. Aurora was still gazing at his chest, noticing the smooth plane was clean and undisturbed by the chilly night. She shivered and wrapped her arms around herself. As much as she wanted to, Aurora did not move to cover herself with the blanket. Instead, at the pace of a snail, she edged towards the border of the bed, freezing when she failed to hear a sound from Orion. Aurora looked up at him, but he merely gazed back silently. Once again, she slowly moved her arm towards the floor, feeling her fingertips graze a soft fabric. Immediately, she grabbed it and looking into his blank face, wordlessly held it out to him. His brow twitched as she uttered a soft, "please."

He didn't move.

Aurora placed it delicately on his lap as if it were going to break and turned away from him to lay down.

Just before she surrendered to the dark, cold night, Aurora felt light touches against her hair. Strands of it rose and fell but the pet like touches she did not go away. Her eyelids fluttered closed as she felt hot puffs of air hit back of her nape. By then she was gone.

Orion pulled back once he had his pack mate's scent memorized. He then retracted his hand after a couple of minutes; his face grim. He petted her, trying to comfort her in her sleep as he tried to understand. What did she want? He didn't understand. Grabbing the flimsy blue cloth she'd laid on his lap, he held it to his face. She wanted him to wear this, this horrid, revolting piece of cloth. Please, she had said moments ago. He snorted and placed it on the ground once more. He was Alpha not she.

He crossed his arms over his chest and looked outside; the edges of his lips tugging downwards. The inner wolf in him craved blood.
