Little Girl Gone

Our teen-age daughter ran away.
It upset my wife for a day.

I said: "Don't you fret, honey.
Now we can spend our sweat money
on our own selves,
as into life she delves.

Free of her responsibility,
we'll test the possibility
of finding some pleasure
in our unfamiliar leisure.

She's left our square establishment
that gave her care and nourishment,
to seek adventure, fame and the rest.
So don't cry for the ungrateful pest.

I doubt that she'll fare too ill
with her iphone and the Pill.
We did our best as father and mother.
Now let's re-learn to please each other."

Our teen-age daughter ran away.
Now, if only she'll stay!
