I was listening to Vanessa Carleton's song Ordinary Day and thought of this story. Enjoy! ^.^

Disclaimer: I do not own the song or artist, I also don't own Iron Man.

Ugh! This stinks! I have to stay home - sick - on a Sunday!

Dad's working, so is mom, and my sister, Jenelle, is at her friend's house, so I'm home, sick, on a Sunday, by myself.

I'm currently in the living room watching my favorite movie, Iron Man.

I heard a knock at the door and yelled, "Come in!" But I immediately regretted yelling since my throat was soar.

My best friend, Shawn, walked in and said, "Thought you could use some company. How are you feeling, Tasha?" My name is Natasha, but everyone calls me Tasha.

I shrugged and replied, "All I have right now is a fever and a soar throat, but mom's making my stay inside all day."

"Well, it won't be so bad with me here, will it?" Shawn asked with a grin.

"Are you sure? You might catch my cold." I stated.

"I don't mind. I couple days sick is no big deal. Besides, it's almost Summer, so we'll be out of school soon anyway." Shawn said.

I nodded my head wordlessly as Shawn plopped down on the couch beside me.

We watched the movie for around twenty minutes before I said, "Shawn, can I ask you a favor?"

He looked at me and said, "Sure."

"Um, would you...like to...dance......with me?" I asked nervously, sure he would turn me down.

"What's with asking this all of a sudden?" Shawn asked, curiosity sparkling in his eyes.

"Well, you know how I took those dance lessons in middle school?" He nodded. "And remember how no one ever asked me to a dance?" He frowned and nodded. "Well, why should I let those lessons go to waste?"

He stood up from his seat - much like a Poptart in a toaster - and stuck out his right hand.

I giggled and put my left hand in his right one. He pulled me up from my seat. Shawn put his left hand on my hip and I put my right hand on his shoulder.

We started dancing, even though there was no music.

I rested my head against his chest, it would be his shoulder, but he's way taller then me.

I blushed at how close we were. My body was firmly pressed against his.

I was suddenly aware of how stupid I probably looked. I was in bright pink shorts with rainbows on them, a blue tank top with a picture of a duck on it, and bare feet. I was sick, dancing with my best friend in my living room, with no music.

I laughed slightly and Shawn asked, "What?" He pushed me away slightly so he could look at my face.

I stood back and gestured to myself. "I must look ridiculous right now." I pointed to my hair. "And what's up with this blond animal on top of my head?"

I'd never really cared about my looks, especially in front of Shawn. So why am I suddenly worried about how I look in front of him?

"I think you look cute. And I love your hair." Shawn said.

He pulled me back to him - which I was grateful for since I was blushing - and we continued dancing.

I've known Shawn my whole life, and I mean that literally. Our moms were pregnant together. We've been best friends our entire life, even though he's a boy and I'm a girl. But I do have girl friends and he has guy friends. But it's always been me and Shawn. People always referred to us as "Shawn and Tasha." Never just "Shawn" or "Tasha." We're the unbreakable duo.

The past two years, me and Shawn changed. I got boobs, curves, a little taller, and my face cleared up. Shawn grew a lot, became stronger, got contacts, facial hair - which he shaves - and a deeper voice. We're seventeen now and closer then ever.

"Tasha, can we sit down and talk?" Shawn asked.

"Sure."

We sat down on the couch, facing each other. I sat criss-cross and crossed my arms over my chest.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Tasha...we've been friends all our lives. And it's just..." He trailed off, looking like he was searching for the right words to use.

I starred at him for several minutes, sitting wordlessly.

And I did something that I never in my life thought I would do...I kissed him.

It only lasted a couple of seconds before I pulled away.

Shawn's eyes were wide and he didn't say anything.

"Shawn-" I started.

"Can you read my mind?" He cut me off.

"What?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows, majorly confused.

"I was about to tell you that I like you." Shawn stated.

"Really?" I asked, mad at myself for kissing him when he was about to say that.

"Yeah.........wait! Does this mean you....like....me?" He gestured towards himself.

I laughed and said, "I don't kiss guys for no reason."

He pulled me towards him as soon as the words were out of my mouth. He pressed his lips gently to mine and embraced me.

Yep, just another ordinary day.
