Chapter 1. Over-react Much?

"Fisher! Stop being a bitch!"

"WHAT?! Are you fucking kidding me?!" I pretty much lost it. Dalton was my best friend, and he absolutely knew better than to call me a bitch, whether I deserved it or not. This time, I didn't deserve it.

"Okay, I'm sorry. Geezus. Calm the fuck down. It's not a big deal." He rolled his eyes and it infuriated me more.

"Not a big deal? Are you kidding?! Fuck you D! Just go! Just go off and fuck your whores and do whatever the fuck you want, but don't you DARE fucking call me a bitch because I'm annoyed that you can't keep it in your pants for five fucking minutes! God! My goddamn sister? Unfuckingbeleivable!"

Dalton was hot. Period. He was also a manwhore. He slept with anyone and everyone. We'd dated for about a day in junior high, and since then we were best friends. I'm pretty sure I was the only non-ogre girl in the school that he hadn't slept with. That's not to say we hadn't messed around and all that, periodically, usually at parties before he ended up shagging one of the cheerleaders or something. But sleeping with my sister? That's too fucking much. He'd gone through all of my female friends, but it was an unspoken rule that he had to stay away from my sister. Beth. She's a bitch. She knew better too.

He slept with her because he's a whore. She slept with him because... she wanted to hurt me. What a fucking bitch.

"Since when do you give a shit who I have sex with? I mean, God... you're acting like you're jealous or something." He started laughing uncontrollably at his little joke, and then when he saw the fury on my face he laughed more.

We'd never talked about "us" or whatever. It was another unspoken rule-- don't talk about us.

"You're right." I said calmly. "I don't care about who you sleep with. I shouldn't have reacted like that. If you want to sleep with Beth, then go ahead. But next time, don't fucking brag about it. That's sick. It's bad enough that I have to hear about it from HER. Sick." The calm was fading quickly and I had to get away from him.

"Fish... I'm sorry...."

"Don't worry about it Dalton. I should have expected it from both of you. I'm gonna go. I'll see ya later." I started walking out, trying to control my breathing when in reality I just wanted to punch someone.

"Come on, don't be a baby. I said I'm sorry. For fuck's sake Fisher, what do you want me to say?" He threw his arms up in the air in frustration.

I want you to say you love me. I want you to say you're going to stop sleeping with every girl you see. I want you to say Beth was a mistake. That's what I thought. But what I said was... "You've said it. It's fine. I know you can't help yourself. I'll get over it. I'll see you tonight, right?"

"Look. I don't want you to freak out.... but.... I think I kinda like her. Beth. Don't freak out!" He braced himself for the explosion of fury that he expected from me, but it didn't come. All I felt was shock, but all I did was walk out.

Great. Fucking great. Game. Set. Match. Beth wins. Again. Beth went through boyfriends as frequently as Dalton did. I laughed to myself thinking of which of them would tire of the other first. Beth, obviously. I mean. Dalton could (and did) have any girl he wanted, but Beth knew how to work it. She'd play him like a fiddle then drop him before he had a clue. I drove home blaring my music, fuming about my best friend and my bitch of a sister.

"Fisher, you are such a fucking bitch!" It wasn't the first time Beth greeted me at the door with those words, actually.

"What the fuck ever Beth. Why don't you tell me what you want so I can go back to my life." Whore. Bitch. Slut. Best friend stealer.

"Dalton just called me. He's all worked up because you're pissed off at him. God you selfish bitch! Why do you even care if I date him? It's not like YOU didn't have plenty of chances yourself. I swear if you don't back the fuck off, I'll make him stop talking to you completely. And you KNOW I can do it. Then what will you do? God you're pathetic." She huffed and left. What. A. Bitch.

She's right though. She could work her little slut magic and turn him against me. That would crush me. What else can I do? She's won. Maybe when she's done playing with him, things can go back to normal. But what am I supposed to do in the mean time? Fuck.

My ass started vibrating, so I took out my phone and answered without checking the number. "Hello?"

"Still mad at me?" Dalton was laying the charm on thick, probably out of habit since he knew it didn't really work on me.

"Nope. My sister just clarified everything for me."

"What does that mean?" I imagined he was wrinkling his forehead. He was cute when he did that. God I really am pathetic. "Hey we're okay right?"

"God D stop being such a girl. We didn't break up. You want to date my sister, go ahead. We're fine. Really." I was a terrible liar and he never would have believed that in person, but maybe over the phone....

"Ooo..... kay... Well, I'm taking Beth with me tonight. Okay? I just didn't want you to be surprised. I mean, I guess you could probably ride with us..."

"No thanks D. I'll see you there. What time are you picking her up?" I was acting mildly interested, but I really just wanted to be gone before he came to pick her up.

"I think around 10. Why? Oh crap, gotta go. I think the microwave just exploded. See ya tonight Fish." He hung up before I could respond.

Okay. He's coming at 10 to pick up my bitch of a sister. That means I need to leave here around 9:30. Who goes to a fucking party that early? What am I going to do?

"You're going to make them jealous. I mean, Dalton is completely fucking hot, and he loves you. That's obvious." Gavin was my other best friend, and she was obviously delirious.

"Gav, he doesn't love me. We're friends. That's it. That isn't what I meant anyway tard. What are we going to do before the party?"

"Geezus Christ Fisher, are you that stupid? I mean, I know you're smart-- I cheat off your tests, so you can't be stupid. But you are dense. I'll be over there to get ready, and we'll leave just as Dalton gets there to pick up Beth. Don't be an imbecile."

"Explain. I can hear the wheels turning in your pretty little head." Gavin was planning something. I knew it. I just didn't see it coming.

"Well, we'll have to actually make an effort this time. I mean, it's a big party so it's fine, but we'll just have to make sure you look hot and then we'll have to make sure Dalton notices. Which means..." I heard her smile through the phone and I frowned.

"No. Forget it. I'll wear the tiny dress and let you do my make-up and hair and all that shit, but hell no I'm not making out with him!"

"Look. I hate your sister infinitely more than you could ever pretend to hate her. And you're my best friend. And you owe me. So while I'm doing this to help YOU, you have to help me ruin Beth to help ME. Get it? And in order to do that, you're going to have to make some sacrifices. And tonight my dear friend, that means you're going to have to make out with the captain of the football team. It's a hard life." She rolled her eyes, I could tell. Bitch. "Now, I'm going to get some shit done before I come over there. Take a shower. Don't fall asleep."

She hung up and I went to take a nap. Five minutes later she texted me to make sure I didn't fall asleep. Bitch. Ugh.
