Life isn't fair. But maybe sometimes it is.
The life form that meandered through the alley was identified as human. It staggered and swayed, drunken. It was headed home, wherever that was; the drunkard didn't even know. Or maybe, it was looking for an open bar where drinks were served all night. It spoke and sang slurred words to no one in particular. Every now and again yelling incomprehensible words and phrases at people that weren't there. It's life was Misery and that was fair.
Misery touched the lives of those who deserved it. Sometimes, Misery toyed with the innocent but this wasn't the case. This drunken human deserved every little thing Misery gave it.
The presently drunken human had done many evil things. When it was a child, it had been spoiled by its poor mother. She'd given it everything it desired, even if the desire was too expensive or hard to get. The human grew up thinking it deserved everything. Finally, its mother grew tired of the whining and complaining. She tried to show the human how to work for desires. But it didn't desire the lesson and it killed her.
The presently drunken human had done many evil things. The human grew a little older and met someone it would never forget. It loved them but they didn't love back. The human tried and tried to gain affection only to be dashed again and again. Since the human grew up thinking it deserved everything, it grew angry that it didn't have the love it thought it deserved. So it killed its love too.
The presently drunken human had done many evil things. The human found that it needed money. Some say money is the downfall of every man but they all need it to live. The human needed money so it had to get a job. The human looked and looked but it couldn't get a job because it had never been to school. The human was desperate and found a very low paying job. It asked for a raise but was refused. So it killed the manager too.
The presently drunken human had done many evil things. The human spent its last paycheck on alcohol because that's what it desired. It couldn't afford its last drink so it killed the bartender too and took all the alcohol it could drink. It now walked in the alley, slurring words and shouting. It was generally trying to say that nothing good ever happens after midnight because nothing good ever does. The human tried to walk home but it had never had a real home and it was too drunk to know where anywhere was.
The presently drunken human had done many evil things. It lived by the rule of getting home before midnight. But midnight was half a minute away and a home was nowhere in sight. The alley was growing colder and the human's evil doings flooded its mind. It tried to push the guilt away but they kept coming back. The human stumbled as it tried to run away from all of its evil.
The presently drunken human had done many evil things. It ran into a group of gangs that were fighting each other. The human was drunk and had seen enough blood in its life. It ran to separate the groups and life decided to be fair. An eye for an eye.
The presently dead human had done many evil things. And now, the scores were settled.
