No wind disturbed the placid lake, no vibration rippled onto the shore. The serenity of the clear water flew into me, undisturbed by the slightest sound.

"Meg, we're going!"

I turned slowly and took the short steps to the car; everyone was ready, buckled in their seats. I rested my hand on the open door and with a last glance at the beautiful scenery of my holiday I pulled myself in, dodging various bags.

As we drove I watched the trees flash past, merging into a long green strip. The short days of my holiday had gone by fast. I looked over at Claire, sitting quietly, head resting against the window.

"Me," she said suddenly.

"Thanks for the great holiday."

I smiled, knowing that this was something she'd remember tomorrow.
