The next morning, I awoke to the brightness of the sun. I looked around. Chuan was sitting on the bed, leaning against the wall, looking at me.
"Hey, sleepyhead," he said with a smile on his face.
"Good morning," I said. I sat up on the bed. I rubbed my eyes and stretched a little bit. Chuan moved closer to me.
"You silly idiot," he said. "Your hair's all messed up."
"Huh?" I said, still half-asleep. He reached out his hand and ruffled my hair.
"Ugh, stop it," I said. I pushed his hand away from my head. For some reason, I noticed that he was grinning; I wondered why. I touched my hair. It was all tangled!
"Chuan, you meanie!" I stuck out my tongue at him. Now, I had to fix my hair since Chuan messed it up. From the corner of my eye, I saw Chuan inching closer and closer. Then, out of nowhere, Chuan gives me this BIG HUG.
"Eh?" I said. I looked at him. Again, he rested his chin on my shoulder.
"Ruby," he said.
"Do you want to know something?"
"What?" I asked. I was confused because Chuan was acting a bit strange. He lifted his chin off of my shoulder. He turned my head so that my eyes looked directly into his.
"Ruby," he said as he leaned closer. "I love you." He gently kissed me on my lips. I was surprised at what he said. No one's ever said that to me before, especially someone as handsome as Chuan. As we broke apart, I felt my heart beat faster and faster. My face turned warm. Was I blushing?
"Ruby," Chuan says after a while. I could tell that he was embarrassed at what he just did. "I'm sorry for that. I should've planned that out better. If you want. We can forget the whole thing and pretend nothing happened."
"No, Chuan, it's okay. You don't have to apologize because I…" I caught myself before I continued that sentence. What was I thinking?! Chuan gave me this weird look. Did he notice the weird way I was behaving?
"Because you what?" he asked.
"Because I love you too," I said in a very low voice.
"What did you say?" asked Chuan. "I couldn't hear you. Can you please speak louder?"
"No." I quickly turned my head around and buried my face in a pillow. I didn't want him to see me blush. Chuan put a hand on my shoulder. I slowly lifted my head up and saw that he looked a little sad.
"It's okay, Ruby. You don't have to tell if you don't want to. I'm sorry for being so weird today. I'll leave you alone for now." Chuan got up from the bed and headed for the door. I ran up to him and hugged him from behind. He turned and looked at me with such confusion. I giggled.
"Chuan," I said. "Don't leave. You didn't do anything wrong, honestly." I hugged his body tighter. His back felt like a pillow, soft and comfy. I tiptoed a little so I was able to whisper into his ear.
"I love you too, Chuan." I felt his arms wrap around my waist, as he turned around fully. He bent his head over, giving me a small kiss on my forehead, causing my face to burn up.
"You look so cute when you blush," said Chuan. That comment made me blush even harder. I hid my face in his chest. Mmm. His scent was intoxicating.
"Are you sniffing me?"
"Noooo," I lied.
"You liar. I can feel your breathing on my chest. Admit it, you think I smell good."
"No. Hehe~" I let go of Chuan and ran over to the bed and sat down. I looked over at Chuan and stuck out my tongue at him. Chuan ran over to the bed and pounced on me, tickling me like there's no tomorrow. Okay so that wasn't the best analogy but still, he was tickling me so much that I was laughing hysterically.
"Chuan, stop! I can't take it anymore! Enough!" My hysterical laughter brought a tear out of my eye. Chuan stopped when he realized it was enough. I lay back on the bed, a little tired, despite the fact that we just woke up. Chuan lies down beside me, looking at me with such passionate eyes. I reached out my hands and grabbed his face and pulled it closer to mine, allowing me to kiss him gently on his lips. After I let go, Chuan wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer to his body. I rested my head upon his chest once again. We lay there for several minutes.
This is how our relationship began.
