The next morning, Chuan and I walked to school, hand-in-hand. But right before we went into the school, we separated since I had to go to the transfer office whereas Chuan had to speak with his coach. By the time I was done finalizing the papers, Chuan was already waiting for me by the door. We then walked to where his locker was.

"I already told my friends about you," said Chuan as we continued down the hall. "They're waiting for us by my locker."

"What?" I turned to see a small group of friends, chatting around. They were of different genders and races. One of the guys noticed us and called out to us.

"Hey Chuan! What took you guys so long?," he said.

"Yea!," shouted one of the girls. "Don't tell me you guys stopped somewhere for a little something-something." I blushed at the comment.

"Shut up, Madison," replied Chuan. "Anyways guys, this is my girlfriend, Ruby."

"Hi everyone," I said and gave a little wave. I was greeted with a bunch of hi's and hey's and a 'yo', which I laughed at.

"This is Aaron," said Chuan as he pointed to the guy who first called out to us. "And this is Madison, Nicole, Darren, and Kris." Madison did a quick look-over of me and gave me a thumbs up. So I guess that means at least one of Chuan's friends approve of me. Madison was a redhead with blue eyes. Her body was well toned, giving off an athletic aura. Aaron was an Asian with black hair and brown eyes. He was slightly taller than the average male, but his medium build made him seem very friendly and approachable. Darren was a Hispanic with black hair and brown eyes. He too was of medium build and he wore these black rimmed glasses that made him look adorable! Nicole was Nicole was a petite African American with black hair and green eyes. Nicole seemed a bit shy, but she always wore a smile on her face. Kris was a very tall Asian, even taller than Chuan actually. He had brown hair and light brown eyes; his body was slim but very well toned. I think he was the one who greeted with 'yo'. Everybody was standing around, trying to help me figure out where all my classes were, when suddenly, running footsteps were heard and then a figure "pounced" on Chuan.

"Hey there cutie," cooed a girl. She had luscious blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Though she was of average height, she had this gorgeous S line body. You can see all the guys in the room direct their attention towards her.

"Hi, Cassandra," answered Chuan, with a slight tone of annoyance in his voice.

"So," started Cassandra as she linked one of her arms with Chuan's. "Will you be coming to my party this Saturday?" She batted her eyelashes in attempt to look cuter.

"Most likely not," said Chuan as he unhooked his arm from her and pulled me closer to him. "I already have other plans." Cassandra eyed me up and down before making a frown.

"But you promised you'd come," Cassandra whined.

"Actually, no, I never promised you anything."

"Fine," said Cassandra with a huff. "But you HAVE to come to my birthday party next weekend!" Cassandra then sauntered off, leaving Chuan with a very annoyed look on his face. Just then, the first period bell rang. Chuan gave me a quick peck on the forehead before we all dispersed. I had first period Biology with Madison and she eagerly wanted me to sit next to her. After I was properly introduced to the class, the teacher broke us up into groups of two to do a worksheet. I ended up being partners with Madison, much to her delight.

"So Ruby," said Madison as we worked. "How long have you been with our Chuan?" There was a glimmer of excitement in her eyes.

"Not very long," I admitted. "We met a little while ago and it just happened."

"That's so cool! You guys are adorable together!"

"Really? Thanks," I said as a small blush crept across my face.

"Take good care of our Chuan, okay?," Madison said as she nudged my arm.

"I will." As we continued to work, a certain question began to circulate in my mind.

"Madison, umm, how does Chuan know Cassandra?"

"Cassandra? They were like childhood friends or something. I heard she had to move away during third grade and she came back just two years ago. Chuan told me that Cassandra has changed completely and he can't stand her now."

"Oh, I see." At least they weren't lovers. I was a bit relieved at the news, but there was a small uneasy feeling in my chest.

"Don't worry, Ruby. Nothing will happen between Chuan and Cassandra. I can tell that Chuan is infatuated with you. You should've seen the day he was telling us his girlfriend was transferring here; his eyes practically lit up."

"Oh, really? That must've been very interesting to see."

"We didn't even know he had a girlfriend. He just seemed a bit happier lately. We just assumed his relationship with his dad had gotten better."

"Nope, it might've been because of me," I admitted bashfully.

"Of course it was you," said Madison as she gave me a light punch to the arm, causing both of us to laugh aloud. We kept on chit chatting while doing our worksheet until the bell rang. It turns out I had dance class with Nicole next. She didn't say much to me, but always gave a smile. She danced ballet and boy was she a great dancer. Her graceful movements caused many to stare at her. Next was music class and Darren was in my class. He was great at drums. Then came gym class, which I had with Aaron and Kris. The class was learning basketball. Kris, being on the opposite team of me, kept using his height to his advantage and blocked every shot I made. Luckily, Aaron was on my team and he helped me take care of Kris. After gym, lunch time finally came around. Walking into the cafeteria with Aaron and Kris, I found Chuan already sitting at a table with Madison and Nicole.

"Hey," greeted Chuan as he stood up from his seat. He then pulled me in for a hug and placed a light kiss on my cheek, causing Madison to "oooh" in response. We sat down and finally began our lunch. Lunch consisted of a slice of pizza, with some mozzarella sticks on the side. We were all busy eating and chatting around until Cassandra approached our table. She somehow managed to squeeze herself into the tiny spot between Kris and Chuan.

"So Chuan," she said. "Don't forget to come to my birthday celebration next week." She tried to cling onto Chuan's arm again, but he shrugged her off.

"I'm not obligated to go, Cassandra."

"Why won't you come to your best friend's eighteenth birthday?," she whined as she pushed her boobs up against Chuan's arm. Chuan shuddered in disgust as he scooted closer to me, wrapping an arm around my waist.

"We're not best friends," replied Chuan. "We're just childhood friends, okay? We're not even that close."

"You still have to come to my party. EVERYONE is going."

"Well I'm not going."

"Why not? Is it because of the new girl?," she asks as she points a finger in my direction. "She can come if she wants."

"No thanks," I decline politely.

"I'm not going and the decision's final," said Chuan firmly.

"I can't believe you'd ditch your best friend for some new girl!," Cassandra complained.

"For the last time, I'm not your best friend!," exclaimed Chuan. "And she's not just some new; Ruby's my girlfriend." Cassandra's eyes widened with shock.

"G-g-girlfriend?," she stuttered.

"Yes. Now will you please stop bothering me? You interrupted our lunch." Cassandra stood up with a "hmph!"

"Fine," she yelled as she stomped off.

"Good riddance," said Aaron. But I have a feeling that won't be the last time I'll be seeing Cassandra.
