Don't Let Time Forget

Our lives are governed by time
And how many hours in a day
We constantly glance at the clock
And pass the minutes as we may

*

But I remember back when I was a child
And I was given half an hour before bed
Those insignificant minutes meant nothing
When I could get lost in my own head

*

In that half an hour
I could travel to faraway lands and back
I could meet my prince charming under the stars
And construct an endless railway track

*

That's the thing about childhood
Time doesn't matter at all
Instead things are measured in memories
Emotions, and the other side of the garden wall

*

But then I learnt to tell the time
And my happy ever after was lost
Because I learnt that minutes always tick by
And every moment has its cost

*

Since then, I've never really thought about it
The way I am doing now
Because there you are in front of me
Taking a lifelong vow

*

In this precious moment
Looking at the smile on your face
I want nothing more
Than to never leave this place

*

I wish I could break every single clock
And preserve this day forever
We can never be changed by the hands of time
I just wish I was that clever

*

If I could freeze my life at any point
It would be at these few amazing seconds
Because before we know it we'll be old and grey
And I'll be watching as death beckons

*

So let's just enjoy the silence
And pause it right here, my love
Let's hang on to what we feel right now
And just thank the heavens above

*

Because I never want to forget your smile
Or the tone of your voice as you say 'I do'
And I don't ever want time to forget
The fact that I love you

*

Quite a bit more light-hearted than my others! Hope you liked it and please review!
