Chapter 26

Hoping For Normal

Casey opened my door just as I pulled down my shirt.

"Darn my timing," he cried snapping his fingers in the door way.

"How did you get in!"

"Oh..um. I took your card key. I forgot to return it," he laughed nervously.

"And what exactly are you doing here," I asked moving to the bathroom to check my reflection. I looked at my wavy hair and started to pull it up in a pulling tail too lazy to straighten it.

"Leave it down," Casey said leaning against the bathroom door frame. I gave him a puzzled look but droped my hands down.

"It looks better when it's down. You should just leave it natural. Like how you use to have it freshmen year."

"It was straightened freshmen year."

"After McKenna had completely brainwashed you."

I said nothing and just stared straight into the mirror. I could see Casey's intense eyes staring at me and I resisted the urge to shiver.

"About that," I started staring down at the sink.

"I'm not gonna tell, if that's what you're gonna ask."

I looked back up into the mirror staring at his reflection and nodded.

"..Thanks."

"Thanks for telling me," he said moving closer behind me. I held my breathe and his hands took my hair and pulled it from around my face past my shoulders to rest on my back.

"Now we can see your face."

I turned around, my waist now pressing against the sink counter and stared up at him. He was so close I could smell his mint chocolate scent. He stared down at me with such intensity I didn't know if he was going to kill or kiss me. He pressed his hand against my face and then I blurted out "you smell like mint chocolate chip ice cream!"

"What," he asked.

"Never mind," I said brushing his hand away and walking out of the bathroom. "We better get going. Breakfast and all. Most important meal of the day," I said laughing nervously. "Plus we have to go to the airport this afternoon. Pity we didn't go see any sites here in Poland, huh," I asked grabbing my jacket from the top of my already packed suitcase. I almost spirited to the door and held it open for Casey. "Let's go!"

"You must be pretty hungry," Casey said, a bit weirded out by my behavior.

I stayed a few feet behind him as we walked to the elevator. I scanned the hallway for the stairs.

"You know what you go talke the elevator, I need exercise," I said running past him. I was almost to the door for the steps when one of the hotel room doors opened and smacked me in the face. I fell over and moaned.

"Are you okay," asked Dean.

I whined. Just. My. Luck.

"Just peachy," I said remembering what had happened between us last night. Dean held out his hand but I ignored it and got up myself.

Dean shrugged and walked into the now open elevator doors.

"Hey! That's our elevator!"

"Our?" Dean questioned finally noticing Casey.

"Get Your own!"

"I thought you were taking the stairs," mumbled Casey.

"I-I..He stole our elevator!"

"We can share you know," Dean retorted.

My eyebrows scrunched together in fury and my hands at my sides shook. Casey, looking alarmed pushed me into the elevator so hard I landed on my knees.

"WILSON," I screamed.

"You can resolves your issues in here," he said pressing all the elevator floor buttons.

"But-"

The elevator doors shut leaving me alone with Dean. Still sitting on the floor, I huffed and folded my arms.

"I'm just taking the stairs on the next floor," Dean stated.

"No I am!"

"Fine…Walk 14 flights if stairs."

"No I take it back, you're going."

"Don't tell me what to do," he said quietly.

"What was that," I snapped.

He sighed and shook his head.

"Don't patronize me!"

Suddenly the elevator stopped.

"Casey," me and Dean said at the same time.

"That smartass," I said.

"I thought your were going to try and control that sailors mouth of yours."

I didn't even give him the pleasure of a reaction. I just stared at the elavtor doors.

"Casey let us out! We're gonna miss our plane," I screamed.

It was silent for almost ten minutes until Dean sat down and stared at me.

"Don't look at me," I finally said.

"Jackie..This is stupid. What do you want me to say? I'm sorry for being in love with you?"

I tried to keep my lip from trembling as I turned my head to look at him.

"I didn't know you had a thing for sluts."

He rolled his eyes. "Jackie, I'm sorry. I was mad. I didn't mean it. You rejected me."

"I didn't reject you!"

"Oh really? "You just had to ruin everything!" Then tell me what that means in Jackie language."

"….I'm scared Dean. I actually thought you were hot."

"Gee, thanks."

"No, no…I just never thought of you as..see I never really looked at you that way. It didn't matter what you looked like to me. You were my brother. Thinking my brother is attractive..is weird, you know?"

"Well were like my sister..I know."

I almost smiled at that but bit my lip instead. "I never thought of you in any other way. And you came back trying to be..J-Jesse…And it was freaking me out."

"That means you still have feelings for him…and none for me," he said looking sad.

"What?"

"Think about. I came back after…the incident, to see you and I was different then too. Just with glasses and no 'bad boy' clothes. You didn't see me different."

I stared down at my feet. "I'm over him…"

"No…No your aren't," he said touching my knee.

"D-don't touch me," I said turning my back to him and resting my head aginst the wall.

"Why would you still cry over him then?"

"Dean..please shut-up."

"Jackie-"

"Go out with me,: I blurted out so he would shut-up.

"What,".

"A date," I said slowly turning back around and standing up. "To see if it's more than friendship."

"Or if it's still Jesse I want," I though sadly as Dean stood up too.

"O-Okay," he said shuttering from shock.

I grabbed him and hugged him tightly so he couldn't see the tears forming in my eyes.

"But I think I know the answer," I thought shutting my eyes and he hugged me back.

Suddenly the elevator jerked and we started moving again, but I still held on, hoping that everything that had happened these past weeks were a dream. Hoping that when I opened my eyes and let go I would be back in my bed in American. Hoping that Dean's plane hadn't arrived yet and Casey never said anything to me that day. Hoping things would go back to normal. But I knew the truth. Things would never be the same again.

Casey's POV

"You're an idiot," Connor said into the phone.

"No, she needs this."

"Since when do you care about her?"

"I don't..But unless she dose this she'll never fall in love with me Connor."

"What did she do to you," Connor laughed but then he suddenly stopped and said, seriously, "You've grown up a lot Case."

"Yeah, yeah. Don't go all mom on me."

"But if she dose this you could also have absolutely no chance."

"…I know."

"You really wanna win this bet don't you? I think you're liking this bet," he half joked.

"Goodbye Connor. I'll call you when we arrive in Paris," I said hanging up.

I sighed and stared out at the view from my balcony.

"You know it's rude to eavesdrop," I said to Charlie, who was smirking behind the curtain by the balcony door.

"Bet? She's a bet?"

"It's not something you should worry about big brother," I said patting his head as I walked away.

"I'll her!"

"No you won't," I said nonchalantly.

"Oh? And why not," he asked stepping closer to me. "She'll believe me. She likes me."

"You just want to be with her to piss me off? Well she wants to be with you because of the same reason. You've got nothing on me Charlie…See what's stopping you from telling her is what I can give you."

"What?"

I motioned him closer, deciding at this very second, totally spur if the moment I would give it up not just for her and the bet but to make amends. I whispered my plan to him and he stared back at me in shock.

"W-why…I mean…Just what are you getting if you win this bet?"

"That's none of your business," I said going into the bathroom and locking the door.

I dialed a phone number into the phone.

"Hello? Mr. Wilson's office. How can I help you?"

I know it's shirt but this is a very important little chapter that contains important information about the future! Oooh foreshadowing! Haha. So I've decided not tell you guys what Casey is giving Charlie to keep his mouth shut. I know I'm evil. But what do you think it is? It would have to be something worth wild to Charlie to keep his tattle tale mouth shut to the little red head we all love. And do you think Jackie has feeling for Dean or her old flame Jesse? Excited about a new location? Believe me the next chapter has the best airport scene…That's all I'm gonna say! Please review/comment! I would greatly appreciate it!
