AN: This song is an allusion to the children's book Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery. The book was translated to English and is titled literally as The Little Prince. Before people ask what a 16 year old was doing reading a childrens book I will tell you that we read it in my French class (yes in French). The book is filled with metaphors that are lessons for children. If you haven't read the book then you will think the song is completely random and pointless. To those who have read and understand the book, I hope that I do it justice for you.

My Rose

If I weren't to tame you
You'd be like an ordinary girl
And I'm so tired of digging up
The baobabs in this world
I try my best to see you
But my eyes just cannot see
What my heart keeps saying
Is calling you and me

I've lived just like a mushroom
With no life of my own
I've calculated facts and figures
And I was always alone
I try my best to know the world
But I'm stuck here tonight
I've never been an explorer
But I wont miss this flight

Let me be your thorns so
that I may protect you
Let me be your shield
From the cold bitter wind
Forgive me for my leaving you
My mind was young when it chose
I never did forget you
You'll always be my rose

I give respect to the hardworking man
As night and day he works
Which is not as bad as the drunkard
Who can't rid of his curse
A friend of mine sits in the wheat field
Reminded of me
As a snake sits in the desert
Waiting patiently

I left the world a little better
Sharing what I learned
With a pilot so misfortuned
Drawing what he heard
I sit here now wondering
If he hears me laugh
Or if the one that I gave
Would forever be his last

Let me be your thorns so
that I may protect you
Let me be your shield
From the cold bitter wind
Forgive me for my leaving you
I was young when I chose
I never did forget you
You'll always be my rose
