Prologue
Lady Lilac of New Royal Land was destined to inherit the title of Duchess of New Royal Land, she had just not expected it to be so soon. Her father slain at the hand of an unknown assassin, she was left to find a man suitor as soon as she came of age. Until then, the title was held by her butler and Father's best friend, Reginald Smith the II.
Her father the late Duke of New Royal Land had found the land they now called home when he himself had just come of age. Petitioning The Queen of England for the land and title of his own, he found he was in possession of the land before he could blink an eye for the Queen owed the young man a favor and was pleased that he had discovered new unclaimed land they could call part of England.
Lady Lilac loved hearing the story of how her father came to own New Royal Land, and even more so she loved reading the letters of correspondence between the late Queen and her father. Reginald was such a sport about reminding Lilac of the good things about her father, memories that she could laugh about even through her pain.
Lady Lilac remained the only living relative of her father, and as such was to be awarded the title by default, even if she wasn't to marry, but by request of her father in his will, she is to find a suitable man of good standing and marry him so that he may take care of her.
With this in mind she descended the stair and went to sit in the parlor, awaiting a man come to call on her.
