She cries herself to sleep at night
While lying in her bed
Her only comfort comes from
The warm voices in her head.

At school her eyes stay down
Voice caught in her throat
Nobody tries her anymore
Missing the message, the note.

When home, the tears come again
As screaming reaches her ears
She's so sick of it all
Taking this crap for years.

It didn't use to be this way
Once a happier little girl
What happened her tenth birthday
Ruined her entire world.

Her father became a cruel man
Shouting drunken rants
Telling her what to do
And hating her for what she can't.

She once had bright blue eyes
Until these horrid days
Now she sees blurred storm clouds
Through her eyes of gray.
