For too long I was afraid
Nervous and dismayed
All my hopes decayed.

I let others intimidate me
Out-debate me
Scorn and berate me.

Until I was told:
"Be more bold!
Of your life take hold.

With common sense
Find self-confidence
To get off the fence.

Take the right side
And happily ride
With a winner's pride."

Vowing I had shed my last tear,
I laughed in the face of fear.
And it bit me on the rear.
