I'm not really sure where the inspiration for this came from, but here it is anyway. I might change the title at some point.

I patiently think on my dreams,
Hoping for something that's wrong in the right light.
Maybe you're not what you seem,
But what does it mean to be imaginary?
We violently paddle upstream,
Prove the guesses are wrong, and everything's all right.
Your gaze is what's troubling me.
You look as if we were the ones lost at sea.

If my head deceives me, you've much more to learn.
And if your god is planning, then what have you earned?
In an optimist's mind, you are bound to be burned,
So please wait until I have returned.
Wait until I have returned.

The world gave me nothing to be,
But everything's golden when I see it through your eyes.
There's not much left here to believe,
Just a beauty that will fade with a breeze.
I promised that I'd set you free,
Let you think that you're wrong, and everything's all right.
With plans laid so falteringly,
I think you'd agree I've got too much to grieve.

If my head deceives me, you've much more to learn.
And if your god is planning, then what have you earned?
In an optimist's mind, you are bound to be burned,
So please wait until I have returned.
Wait until I have returned.

My love's one of uncertainty,
The drizzle of rain in a glittering twilight,
The bulbs of a faded marquee,
And every achievement you begged me to see.
You promised you'd listen to me,
Don't tell me I'm wrong, when everything's all right.
Don't tell me I'm wrong, when everything's all right.
It's all right.
Everything's all right.
Everything, everything's all right.
Everything's all right.

If my head deceives me, you've much more to learn.
And if your god is planning, then what have you earned?
In an optimist's mind, you are bound to be burned,
So please wait until I have returned.
Wait until I have returned.
Please wait until I get my turn.
