Shit Happens When You Party Naked

by castiel89

"Happy Birthday, dear Shaun. Happy Birthday, to you!" the group sang to the birthday girl.

Taking a deep breath, Shaun Evans made a quick wish and blew out the twenty-one candles on the cake in front of her. The party goers erupted into cheers as every candle was extinguished in a single breath. Before Shaun lifted her head up completely, she snuck a glance at the dark haired hottie across the room. As hard as she tried to remain even the tiniest bit hopeful, she knew her birthday wish would never come true.

Sunlight peaked through the slight gap between the curtains the next morning, causing Shaun to try to squeeze her eyes shut even tighter. Even the slightest amount of light hurt her highly sensitive eyes. She rolled onto her stomach buried her face into the pillow. A slight chill wracked her body, causing her to wrap the comforter tighter around her. She tried using her toes to pull the bottom of her sweatpants over her feet, hoping to conserve as much heat as possible. Her efforts were failing, so she had to resort to using her hand to pull the damn pant leg down. When her hand came in contact with bare skin, she knew something was definitely not right.

Shaun abruptly sat up, consequently setting off the mini jackhammers in her head. One hand holding her head, she took in her surroundings. The walls and curtains were a navy blue color. Shaun was thankful for the dark hue, although the sunlight managed to sneak past the drapes, it wasn't as bright as it could have been. Furniture was minimal, yet not to the point where it made the room bare. A dresser sat against the wall on her left and a decent sized wooden desk took up the area between the two windows on her right. Her state of mind was still a tad fuzzy, but without a doubt, this was not the bedroom of Shaun Ariella Evans.

As the crisp white sheet and navy comforter fell around her waist, Shaun realized the horrifying truth.

She. Was. Naked.

"What the fuck?" she mumbled. Anything louder would've aggravated her already throbbing head. "But, how –"

"ALL RIGHT!" Alton Lewis cried out as he sunk a shot, sharing a high five with Derek Hunt. Beer pong wasn't Shaun's strong suit. At least not sober. And apparently it wasn't Christina Port's – one of Shaun's three best friends – forte either. "You two have no chance, babe," he told Christina.

"Just wait, baby," she replied to her already buzzed boyfriend. "We have a few tricks up our sleeves."

Shaun and Christina shared a knowing smirk. They knew a way to throw the two boys off their game. All it would take was just showing a little more skin. It was amazing what a little bit of cleavage could do. After Shaun and Christina took their turn and tossed the ping pong ball (and missed), they put their plan into action.

Christina pulled the bottom of her shirt down as if it had ridden up; making the neckline lower until the top of her aqua colored bra peaked out. The girls cheered as her boyfriend over threw his shot by a good six inches. As Derek aimed for his shot, Shaun bent forward at the waist, giving him the perfect view down her shirt. He was too preoccupied with the view of her boobs to realize he was perilously close to their rack of cups. He noticed a moment too late and knocked over half of the liquid filled cups that were in play on their side.

"Shit!" he cried out as the girls laughed in delight.

Shaun and Christina continued with their tactics throughout the remainder of the game. Necklines were lowered even more and arms were pulled into their bodies to squish their boobs together. Every little thing caused the boys to lose focus and ultimately lose the game.

"Another round?" Christina sweetly asked Alton.

"Alright," Alton agreed. "But this round, we up the stakes."

"To what?" Christina asked.

Shaun's attention was diverted from the conversation as a group of four came down the stairs. Her eyes immediately honed in on the dark haired male talking to her best friend Amanda's fiancee, Aaron. She didn't notice her other best friend, Katie, walk over to plant a kiss on her husband, Derek; or how Amanda and Aaron seated themselves on the couch parallel to the beer pong table. The only thing she noticed was man candy Reed Winters handing her another drink. Along with the fact that her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her chest and the shock waves she felt when their fingertips touched. She couldn't tear her gaze away from his until she heard Alton say three fatal words.

"Strip. Beer. Pong."

"Oh, shit," Shaun groaned as the memory came flooding back. "That explains the lack of clothing."

Shaun inched her way to the edge of the large bed, not wanting to aggravate her pounding head. She gathered up the sheet and wrapped it around her as she gently pushed herself up into a standing position. She swayed a bit, but was able to remain on her feet. Shaun gathered the excess material around her feet and made her way to the bathroom on the other side of the room.

She flipped on the switch and was reminded how bad light and a hangover went together. Squinting, she opened the medicine cabinet above the sink to search for some Advil or Tylenol, or anything that would help with her aching head. Snooping through someone else's bathroom wasn't something she generally approved of, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Failing in her search through the medicine cabinet, Shaun turned her attention to the drawers under the sink.

A dizzy spell hit her as she sought out her hidden treasure in the drawer. Shortly after, the nauseous feeling at the base of her throat appeared. Knowing what was in store, Shaun fell to her knees in front of the toilet and emptied the nonexistent contents of her stomach. When the feeling finally subsided, she couldn't help but feel like she had been in a similar situation.

"I'm going to die," she moaned in between retches. Shaun never prayed to the Porcelain God while she was getting good and drunk. She knew how to hold her liquor. "I'm too young to die! I just turned twenty-one, dammit!"

A masculine hand handed her a damp washcloth to wipe her face while the other rubbed her naked back in soothing circles. After, his hand pushed strands of blonde behind her ears in case she needed to use the toilet again.

A glass of water appeared in front of her face when she reopened her eyes.

"You won't die if you drink the water," a deep, husky voice told her. The sexiness of it caused goosebumps to cover her entire body. Without a doubt, he could feel them under the hand that was still resting on her back. "Not on my watch, anyway," he whispered.

Shaun ached as she reached up to flush the toilet, ridding her nostrils of the putrid fumes in the bowl. She sidled over to the side of the tub that was next to the toilet. Drawing her knees up, she grabbed a corner of the sheet to wipe her mouth. She'd make sure to wash the sheet and return it before she went home later in the day. Much later.

She rested her elbows on her knees and held her head in her hands. She hadn't been able to find any painkillers before having to throwing-up, so her head was still throbbing. In fact, it hurt even more with the pressure her head endured a few minutes prior. Her thumbs rubbed circles around her temples to help relieve some of the pain. Too preoccupied with trying to make herself feel better, she didn't hear the sound of footsteps entering the bathroom.

"How you feelin'?" rumbled a low voice. She spread her fingers apart so she could peak through the gaps.

Lord, kill her now. Kneeling before her – shirtless, no less – was the object of her heart's desire. Why did her best friend's fiance have to be best friends (and roommates) with a guy like him?

Reed Winters was a rare find, considering most twenty-two year old males. Sure, he enjoyed the party life every now and then, but he was a tad more on the quiet side. He took his studies seriously instead of seeing the college years as a chance to get drunk to the point of oblivion every night. He was smart, something Shaun really admired. He was a guy that could actually hold a conversation with her; one that wasn't all about him gloating about his ESPN worthy touchdown pass or how much he could bench press. It was a refreshing change from some of the pea-brained fraternity boys she partied with. Not that all the fraternity boys she met were like that; just the ones that she seemed to attract like a raccoon to a garbage can.

The fact didn't seem to go unnoticed by other members of the female population either. Shaun couldn't count how many times she experienced the dreaded jealous feeling. She often compared herself to some of the more beautiful girls that he hung around. She knew she wasn't swimsuit model worthy, but she did feel she was at least somewhat attractive. All Shaun had to do was find a way to get him to notice her a little more.

Just because Reed wasn't on the university's sports' teams didn't mean he wasn't fit. He stood somewhere between six-foot-two and six-foot-three. She could actually wear heels around him and not feel like a Sasquatch. Sometimes being tall was a pain in the ass. Reed was a little more on the lean side of muscularity. He didn't possess the muscles like a WWE wrestler, but he wasn't a string bean either. Sure, she couldn't see his abs outlined through his shirts, but his biceps more than made up for it. Shaun could barely wrap both of her hands around them.

He had a defined jaw that made Shaun want to cup it in her hands. Her eyes would stray to his cupid bow lips, making her fingers itch to trace them and feel their softness on her own. Even his Adam's apple looked sexy. But it was his eyes and smile that did her in. His eyes were a soft hazel shade, although Shaun swore they turned a deep golden hue at times. And a little piece of Shaun melted into a puddle of goo whenever Reed flashed his pearly whites. That boy knew just how to make her weak in the knees.

"Shaun?" he questioned when she didn't respond. She may have imagined it, but it looked like a flash of worry clouded his eyes.

"Yeah," she replied as she removed her hands from her face. Her voice was a tad hoarse from the vomiting, making Shaun inwardly cringe at the unattractiveness of it. "I couldn't find the Advil."

"You wouldn't in here. I keep it in the drawer on my nightstand. Hold on."

Shaun watched as Reed walked out of the bathroom to get the bottle of pills. Even in her hangover state, Shaun didn't pass up the opportunity to admire his back and perky little ass. It was his own damn fault he wore the kind of jeans that happened to accentuate that particular area of his lower body. She was still staring at the empty doorway when a realization hit her. He said his nightstand. Which meant that the bed she woke up in belonged to him. Just the thought of sleeping in his bed was enough to set her heart racing. He returned before she could dwell on the fact with a shirt covering his torso and took a seat next to her on the tile floor.

"Here," he said, handing her two small capsules and a bottle of water.

She muttered her thanks and swallowed the pills before handing the water back to Reed. Her fingers ran through her tangled hair to try and look the least bit presentable. Just her luck to look like she had stuck her finger in a light socket when she was in the presence of a guy like him. Not to mention that she was still clad in the sheet and nothing else.

"What, uh... What happened last night?" she asked cautiously. She wasn't entirely sure if she wanted to know what had gone on the night before. "I remember bits and pieces, but not everything. Just beer pong and practically giving myself a swirly."

He chuckled softy. "Let's just say... You had quite a night."

"Oh, Lord. Just tell me that I didn't swipe anyone's phone and make drunken calls to random people."

"Nope. No phone calls."

"Phew. Good," she said.

"Why do you say that?" Reed asked, genuinely curious.

"Um... Well, last year before my twentieth birthday, Katie and I swiped Aaron's phone. We called some random guy in his phone book and asked how big of a..." she made a face at him, "he had. Katie said he should be my birthday present. I didn't remember the conversation at all. Aaron and Amanda filled me in about it a couple days later."

He threw his head back against glass shower door and let out a hearty laugh. His eyes shown with laughter and his smile stretched across his face. Shaun couldn't help but feel a little giddy that she was the one to get the reaction out of him.

Once his laughter died off, they sat in a comfortable silence. The pills were starting to take effect and lessened the headache she had when she woke up. The brightness from the sun and lights weren't enemy number one anymore. What she really needed and yearned for was –

"Think you're up for a shower?" Reed asked, taking the words right out of Shaun's mouth.

She nodded in agreement as he got to his feet. Taking a hold of her hand, he hauled her to her own while her other hand held the sheet to her body. Once she was upright, he released her to find her some clean towels and a spare toothbrush for her to use. He could safely assume that she didn't want to endure puke breath any longer than she already had.

"Here. I stuck your clothes in the wash since our drinks spilled on them. They should be done by the time you're out of the shower. I'll just set them on my bed for you."

"Hey, Reed," she said as he made his way out of the bathroom. He paused at the door to face her, meeting her sky blue eyes with his golden hazel ones. "Thanks. For everything."

"Anytime, Shaun. Anytime," he left, closing the door softly behind him.

Shaun ran the water until it reached a nice hot temperature while she quickly brushed her teeth. Pulling her hair to the side so she could spit, she noticed a reddish-purple spot at the base of her neck. Her hair had hidden it, so she hadn't noticed it before. She brought her hand up to lightly touch it, wincing slightly at the tenderness of the mark.

"What the hell?" she whispered, staring at her dumbfounded expression in the mirror.

She had a hickey. A freakin' love-bite. But how? When? Who?

"You're beautiful," he murmured before connecting their equally swollen lips once more. He pushed her against the wall before pulling away to trail his magic lips across her chin and down the side of her neck. She tilted her head back, giving him easier access as he set her body on fire.

"I have a confession to make," Shaun said. She moaned as he licked a particularly sensitive spot near the base of her throat.

"Oh yeah?" he asked while golden-hazel eyes looked up at her.

"I, um... I think I'm in love with you."

"Oh. My. God."

Reed Winters ran his hands through his brown hair after he shut the bathroom door and headed for the laundry room. He had never met a girl quite like Shaun Evans. She looked like an angel, but definitely had a wild side to her. She was smart – had to be as a Physical Therapy student. He had half a mind to ask her to help him with his chemistry homework when he didn't need it, just to be near her. It was adorable the way she could spit out long and complicated medical terms with sophisticated ease. She awed him when he witnessed her explaining exercises in simpler terms to patients at the clinic where she volunteered.

She had the looks to match her intelligence. He knew Shaun didn't see herself as a girl with supermodel looks, but more of the girl next door. Her blonde hair was neither platinum or dirty, but a nice shade that was in between. It was thick, yet silky to the touch. He couldn't help but run his fingers through the strands as he watched her sleep in his bed..

Her eyes demanded attention whenever they were focused on someone. He couldn't help but notice how her normally sky blue eyes changed a multitude of shades, depending on her emotion at the time. They lightened to a pale blue whenever she was enjoying something, a blue so pale it was almost silver-like when she was pissed off or stressed, and then a royal blue whenever she was feeling down in the dumps. His personal favorite had to have been the rich sapphire color they took on when she was full of passion; the shade he saw shining back at him first hand the night before.

And damn, her smile was just as bright as her personality. He swore they put the brightest lit room to shame. He couldn't remember a time when he saw her without her trademark toothy smile. If he was ever depressed about something, one smile from her could make his day all better. She made him laugh effortlessly and could laugh off any embarrassment that she endured. Her carefree attitude (outside of her studies, of course) was contagious. He couldn't help but just want to let everything go and enjoy life around her.

But most importantly...she made him feel things like no other girl had before.

He shook his head while letting out a breath to try and rid himself of thoughts about her. Up until the previous night, he had no idea what her feelings were towards him. He couldn't get the memory of their heated make out session out of his mind. Nor when she said she thought she was in love with him. If there was ever a moment for time to stand still, it had to have been then. Reed didn't think he even breathed when she said it. He knew he was motionless until she muttered five little words after that.

I'm going to be sick.

He could still feel her baby soft skin underneath his hands when he picked her up bridal style and rushed through his bedroom and to the toilet. No sooner had he placed her feet on the ground had she bent over and empty her stomach. He felt helpless as he watched her fall to her knees, wailing that she was going to die. Seeing her in the bathroom that morning was like deja vu. After the amount of alcohol she consumed from the numerous games of beer pong, shots, and mixed drinks, he was amazed she was as coherent as she had been.

"Hey, man," Aaron said as he walked over to the hamper and plucked out a clean polo.

"Hey," Reed replied, distracted.

He opened the dryer door and took out Shaun's clothes and folded them in a pile atop the machine. He was fine until he pulled out her black lacy bra and matching pair of panties. They weren't thongs, but the sheerness from the lace left little to the imagination. The sight of her intimates brought back images of her in (and out) of them the night before. He had a hard time trying to stay a gentleman when she took her clothing off piece by piece.

"You alright, bro?" Aaron asked. Reed dropped the lingerie he was holding like it was a grenade about to go off. Picking them up quickly, he set them atop the rest of Shaun's clothes.

Reed cleared his throat, "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He twisted his arm to scratch the middle of his back. "You going out?" he attempted to change the subject.

"Yeah. Amanda and I are meeting her family for lunch. Since we missed church and all."

"Nice."

"Nice for you, too. It'll give you and Shaun an empty house to...you know," he wiggled his eyebrows. "Get acquainted with each other."

"It's not like that, Aaron." I wish.

"Could have fooled me by how close you two looked last night heading upstairs... And the way you kept adjusting your party hat."

"The damn strap kept cutting into my ass," Reed mumbled.

"Uh-huh. Whatever floats your boat," he patted Reed on the back as he walked passed. "Just...make sure she's okay for me? Amanda will have my hide if one of her best friends gets alcohol poisoning or some shit like that."

"Don't worry about it. I'll take care of her."

"I know," Aaron replied. "I trust you, so does Amanda."

Reed grabbed Shaun's clothes and made his way to his bedroom as Aaron left with Amanda. He pushed all thoughts about the previous night to the furthest corner of his brain. There was no point in bringing it up and looking like an idiot if she didn't remember what she said or what happened after. He just had to let it go.

The sound of the shower running was missing when he entered the bedroom. It didn't surprise him that she was a girl that didn't take hour long showers and used all the hot water. He figured he'd knock on the door to let her know her clothes were sitting on the bed whenever she wanted to grab them. Then he'd wait downstairs and watch some television to give her some privacy.

His arm was raised to knock on the bathroom door when it swung open from the other side. Shaun's towel clad body greeted him and his eyes landed on the mark on her neck. He froze as his gentleman side fought to keep his horn dog side from bubbling to the surface. If the horn ball in him won, he knew he'd want to pick up exactly where they left off the night before.

One more glance at the amount of skin the towel showed, Reed knew he was in deep shit.

Shaun jumped at the sight of Reed on the other side of the door. She was too preoccupied with the memory of blurting out she loved him to hear him enter the bedroom. A flush spread across her entire body as she saw his eyes land on the hickey. Suddenly, the towel seemed much too small to be worn around him. The bottom of the towel barely came to mid-thigh to showcase her long and toned legs. Legs that had been wrapped around his waist as he pinned her against the wall while he kissed her senseless with those wonderful cupid bow lips.

She cursed herself for wayward thoughts as she watched him turn his head to the ceiling. It was the last thing she needed on her mind at the moment. Especially when she wasn't wearing any clothes.

Didn't matter last night, an annoying little voice in her head told her.

"Sorry," they both blurted at the same time.

"What are you apologizing for?" he asked, looking into her eyes – and nowhere else. "If anybody should be, it's me."

"You didn't know I was going to be there," Shaun replied shyly. She tugged on a strand of wet hair that fell out of the towel on her head. "In a towel, no less."

"Not your fault. I was just, uh...setting your clothes on the bed. I'll let you change."

"Thanks," she whispered as he turned to leave, shutting the door firmly behind him.

Shaun sank to the side of the bed and let out a long breath. She cringed when she saw her folded clothes, realizing he had seen her unmentionables. Granted, he had seen them more than she (soberly) would have liked the night before, but it was still a tad embarrassing. She got dressed as she pushed all embarrassment aside for the time being.

While towel drying her hair, she thought of how Reed seemed a little off. The only time he looked into her eyes was when he told her her clothes were on the bed. Otherwise, he never took his gaze off of the ceiling, the floor, anywhere that wasn't her. It was almost like he was having a mental battle in his head. He seemed normal enough when he found her in the bathroom puking her guts out, so what had changed?

It hit her. He remembered. He freakin' remembered her telling him that she loved him. It was the only plausible explanation she could think of. Just. Her. Luck. Of course he would remember. She doubted he was as wasted as she had been. Any remotely sober person would remember someone telling them they loved him. She desperately needed answers about the previous night from him.

A knock sounded on the door, followed by Reed poking his head in – eyes tightly closed.

"You decent?"

"Yeah. I'm dressed," she managed to get out semi-normally.

Reed opened the door fully, carrying a tray with two mugs of a steaming liquid and a plate of toast. Setting the tray on the nightstand, he handed her one of the mugs, and the aroma of fresh brewed coffee filled her nostrils. She could even smell the french vanilla creamer she favored in her coffee. Her heart picked up speed once again, touched that he knew how she liked it.

They quietly sipped their drinks and munched on the toast. Slight tension filled the air from neither knowing how to broach the subject of the night before.

"Reed," she said.

"Shaun," he stated at the same time.

Shaun patted a spot near her on the bed. She'd rather talk to him more at eye level. She doubted she'd keep up her nerve if she had to constantly look up at him while talking. He winced slightly as his tush made contact with the bed, but managed to find a spot comfortable enough for it not to bother him.

Shaun raised an eyebrow at him, wordlessly asking him what was wrong.

"I doubt you remember this," he explained, a slight blush gracing his cheeks, "but last night when us guys lost in beer pong, we used the party hats to...you know...cover certain appendages when our boxers came off. Aaron decided to nickname them -"

"Mr. Happy Cone," Shaun remembered, setting the mug on the tray.

Reed laughed along with her as some things were coming back to her. "Yeah. Mr. Happy Cone. Damn things hurt worse than not wearing them. I think the elastic band was about to cut off my circulation...Anyways, Derek decided to slap my ass. Hard. Woke up this morning to a red hand print on my butt cheek."

He went on to explain more and she listened while the memories came back. Some were still a bit fuzzy, but they were more that what she had earlier. It was when he hesitated to continue that she knew he got to the part of the night where they about to have their own little party for two. When she had a bad case of word vomit. She figured if she had the balls to tell him she loved him, she could gather the gall to admit she remembered. Whatever he felt about it be damned.

"Reed, I have a confession." Talk about deja vu. He nodded for her to go on. "I remember. At least I remember what you're about to tell me."

He was shocked. If she remembered that, did that mean she remembered anything after?

"But that's where everything pretty much ends." There was his answer.

"So, you don't remember getting sick and -"

"I remember praying to the Porcelain God, but -"

"Or me saying I loved you, too?" he blurted before he could stop himself. He needed to get it out in the open. If he at least said it sober, he could know how she really felt about him.

"You did?" she asked, her eyes wide.

"Yeah. I did. I just need to know if your drunken words were sober thoughts so I can tell you again."

Was it just her, or was Reed closer than he had been when he started telling her about everything?

"I..." she stopped, faintly feeling his breath on her face. "I do. I love you."

That was all the encouragement Reed needed. He closed the distance between them and softly crushed his lips to hers. They moved against each other's in synchronization, slowly and sensually. A drastic change from their hot and frantic ones they shared not twelve hours prior. Pulling away, Reed rested his forehead on hers.

"I love you, Shaun." His hazel eyes shone a molten golden hue as he smiled down at her.

"You know, one of my friends in high school told me I should never party naked in a yearbook. If partying naked means my birthday wish coming true, I think we're doing strip beer pong every year."

His only response was to laugh and kiss her again and heeding Aaron's advice about getting acquainted with her properly.

4 Months later

"All the single ladies, all the single ladies. All the single ladies, all the single ladies. All the single ladies, all the single ladies. All the single ladies, now put your hands up!"

Shaun made her way to the middle of the dance floor where all the unmarried ladies gathered. Amanda was about to toss the bouquet, and Shaun wanted to be right in front to block any other girls. Katie and Amanda joked about aiming right for Shaun, stating she was next in line to get hitched and just needed the bouquet for extra luck. It didn't help that Christina agreed with them and planned to hit the flowers in Shaun's direction if they went off course.

Amanda looked over her shoulder and smiled at her. The next moment, the flowers were sailing through the air.

Shaun's basketball instincts took over as she lunged in front of every other girl the bouquet. Her hand snatched it out of midair and sent a few flower buds to the ground. She looked up to see Amanda laughing and pointing in her direction with a look that said "I told you so". Christina almost tackled Shaun as she congratulated, laughing along with her three best friends.

She made her way over to where the groomsmen were standing, drinks in hand. Reed didn't need to look up to know when she stood next to him. He wordlessly lifted his arm to wrap it around her waist as she sidled up to his side. The DJ started playing a slow song and Reed led her out onto the dance floor.

As he wrapped his arms loosely around her waist, she noticed the baby blue garter around his bicep. Having missed the garter toss and wasn't told who caught it, she couldn't help but laugh at the irony that they both caught their respective tosses. She looked into his warm hazel eyes and smiled. Shaun couldn't believe how lucky she was to have met him. She debated on sending Aaron and Amanda a muffin basket to show her thanks for introducing them to each other.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Reed twirled her under his arm, making the bottom of her sage green bridesmaid dress flutter out.

"Just thinking. Who'd have thought it would've taken a game of strip beer pong to get us together?"

Reed laughed before kissing her lightly on the lips. "Shit happens when you party naked, baby."

Don't you all just love when my real life experiences inspire a oneshot?? Too bad there was no "Reed". Just me, my three best friends and their present/future husbands. Yes, I saw all three guys naked. It's a fucked up friendship. : )

This was my first attempt at writing an entire piece in third person! Like it? Yes? No? Give me your thoughts!
