7:00 AM

Up before the alarm, the teapot goes off

still suffering now, from this nasty dry cough

I'm all out of coffee and the cable's now broke

Mom's comin' home so I can't get a toke

Throw off the tank top, switch for long sleeves

It's gotten much colder; dead are the leaves

Pour me some tea, stir sugar in

Sit for a moment, my head's in a spin

Wrapped in a blanket, mug in my grip

step outside, "this is too hot to sip"

On the back porch, in the morning light

The world's going wrong but I'm feelin' alright.
