A Double-Edged Sword

Love and hurt
pain and care.

A slap to the face,
doesn't touch a hair.

Love and hate
walk hand in hand,
a constant
spread across this small land.

Constricting choke hold
round throats of innocents;
a simper of the bold,
the weak remain silent.

Hiding behind masks of love
frightened into corners of lies,
drowning in the sea from above
This is for my own good - though I despise

Acting the enemy
suffocating your loved one.

The realm of waking is a double-edged sword.

I wish for escape.
