I sealed the last box with a long clear strip of tape. Finally, I'm done. I walked out of my room and went to the stair railing.

"Dad! I'm done packing!" I hollered and turned to walk back into my room.

"'Kay! Brandon and I are comin'!" He yelled back and I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.

I grabbed one of the boxes and took it outside to the moving truck. I set the box down in the back of the truck and turned to look at my house.

A sigh escaped my lips. A sigh of what? I didn't know. Relief? Sorrow? I wasn't quite sure. I walked back towards my house letting my toes squish in the grass of a home I was now leaving, after seventeen years of living there.

After going back and forth for about an hour, filling up the truck with boxes of our possessions, I grabbed the last box from my room. I turned to gaze at my lilac painted room.

I bit my lip and sighed, "goodbye…" I whispered and turned to leave my room forever. I walked out to the truck and placed the last box in.

"Looks like we're all done!" My Dad exclaimed, helping the movers close the door on the back of the truck.

"Yup." I said lazily sitting on the concrete putting on my black converse shoes.

"Oh Anna, don't worry hun, you'll find new friends. It's a new start for us." My Mother said leaning down to kiss my forehead.

"But don't forget about us…" Sue said putting out a hand to help me up.

I grabbed her hand and we pulled me up. I brushed my buttocks off by habit and said, "How could I ever do that?" I assured as I turned to embrace her warmly. Sue has been my friend since fourth grade. We were on the same soccer team together and best friends ever since.

"I'm not sure, but you know it happens…" Lisa stated and I turned to her and grinned.

"Not with me it won't," I said and hugged Lisa tightly. Lisa… good times, the girl that made me laugh so hard; I nearly pee myself. We've been friends since seventh grade… not as long as Sue and I, but we're such good friends, it seems like longer.

"Good." Lisa said, Sue nodded and smiled.

"I'm going to miss you guys so much." I said embracing them both at the same time.

"Going to miss you too Ann." Sue said and Lisa agreed with a "yeah".

"C'mon Anna! We're leaving!" My Mother exclaimed from the car.

"Bye guys…" I said walking towards my family. I got in the car and rolled down the window.

I waved and they waved back. There it goes… there goes my last seventeen years behind me in the rearview mirror. Goodbye Clawson… the little town where nothing happens, everything's safe… friends play, hang out. I sighed sadly.

We drove for hours to our new life. I fell asleep after a while, so it seemed shorter than it actually was.

I woke up to the sound of my Mother ringing with joy.

"Oh! I'm so excited! A new adventure for us! Brandon, wake up Anna, she'll want to see this!" She said as we pulled up into the driveway of our new home.

"Anna wake up!" Brandon yelled in my ear.

"I'm already awake!" I hollered back.

"Oh." He said smiling wolfishly.

I grumbled and looked out the window. Our house was a big light yellow house with white shutters and a white porch. Our house had a big backyard that was filled with beautiful grass. The grass stopped at woods. The house was beautiful and it was big. It had two floors, that could tell from looking. There was two windows upstairs and a screen door, with windows on the sides of it. I am guessing one peering into the living room and the other the kitchen. The house already had a garden on the sides of the porch steps, going all the way to the sides of the house. It was cute. Not cute, adorable. The front yard was quite large too. It didn't have any trees in front of it, which was somewhat nice.

The road that was provided was a dirt road and across from the dirt road was a house. It seemed to be the only house for quite a distance. They had a nice wooden cabin house, they also had a garden on the sides of their porch steps with chairs on it. Their home also had a nice cornfield in the back of their house that had a nice backyard as well. What caught my eye was a cute barn painted red to the back-left of their house. Farmers. Great. No babysitting job in my future I bet.

I got out of the car and slammed the car door.

"Isn't this great you guys?" My Mother asked inhaling. "Ahh, the smell of the country."

I walked slowly up to the porch still examining the features of the house. I stepped onto the porch expecting a creak, but I heard nothing. I bounced up and down and still heard nothing. Great, a stable house; better than I expected. I swung open the screen door, twisted the inner-door handle, and pushed it open. I stepped into my new home, marveling the scene. It was empty but I loved it. To the immediate left was the living room and then there was a little room, behind it was the kitchen as to what I could see. To the immediate right was a room, a carpeted room, most likely the office. I walked to the right of the kitchen, and there were stairs, carpeted stairs. I slid off my shoes and walked up the stairs. To the immediate left was a room. I opened the door, it was huge; it must be the master bedroom.

About fifteen feet to the right of that room was another door. I opened it. I could tell at that second that It was my room. It has princess windows and they were gorgeous. The room was a mint green and it was absolutely beautiful. The room had its own bathroom, that was white all over. I grinned at my new room. I stepped out of the bathroom and turned to see a walk-in closet. My jaw dropped, then my lips touched and I smiled ear to ear. I opened the door and walked around in it. It was big, but it was good enough! I walked out of my room to find Brandon running to the other room that was to the right of mine. I ran down the stairs and out the front door.

I caught my breath and found my parents helping the movers get things out of the truck and into the house.

My Mother turned and noticed me standing here panting. "So, hun, how'd you like the house?" She asked grinning while carrying a box into the house.

"I love it, its really great." I said grabbing a box. I sat the box down in the living room and examined the label on it. It said 'Brandon's room'. I moaned and took it up to Brandon's room. I sat it in the middle of the floor. I turned to walk out the door to find my brother leaned against the door hinge, grinning.

"Uh… hi?" I said.

"Hi." He said still standing there.

I looked around confused. "Uh, are you going to help us unpack the truck?" I asked randomly, not knowing what to say.

"Yeah, I will in a sec." He said.

"O-okay…" I said slowly walking towards the door.

He straightened up and blocked my exit. "I saw a boy across the street. Your age too." He said wolfishly smiling.

"Uh… so?" I said somewhat blushing.

"Just sayin'." he said moving to the side no longer in my way.

"Okay…?" I said confused and speed-walked outside before he could say anything else stupid.

After hours of unpacking the truck, we finally got everything inside, and in their places. Except, the boxes were not unpacked. We unpacked the things we needed for tonight and for tomorrow morning, we could continue to unpack tomorrow.

I plopped down onto the couch and found a notebook on top of a box, so I grabbed it and started to read what was in it.

It was a checklist. Probably my Mom's, making sure we had everything. The doorbell rang and it made me jump. I growled and got up and walked to the door. I pulled open the door and to my surprise, there stood a tall, handsome, brown haired boy with a delightful smelling pie in his hands.

"Hi." I mumbled shyly.

"Hi… um, my Mom and I live right 'cross the street." He said in his Southern accent that made me melt. He pointed behind him, "we noticed y'all moving in, so we decided to bring you this." He said holding out a warm, fresh pumpkin pie.

"Oh, thanks, that was… thoughtful of you." I said, my cheeks turning an apple red.

We stood there in silence. Awkward.

"Um, would you like to come in and see the house?" I said. Oh my god, I'm so stupid, he probably thinks that's creepy. Oh man. I messed up big time.

"Maybe another time, I have to go help my Mom with dinner. But I'll see ya' around." He said with a smile that made me cringe.

"Nice meeting you." I said as he started to turn to leave.

"Nice meeting you too." He replied turning on his heel and walking back to his home.

Oh, what a day.
