We were both young when I first saw you.

I close my eyes and the flashback starts.

Their eyes met across the room, crystal blue on brilliant jade green. He smiled at her, she looked radiant. Even with all the distance between them, he could see her blush. That made his smile reach his eyes. Those beautiful blue eyes she loved so much. She smiled back, trying not to stare at him. He looked so handsome in that tuxedo. He hadn't done anything with his messy black hair, but the mess added to her attraction to him.

I'm standing there,

On a balcony in summer air.

The music was loud enough that conversation with someone right beside you was impossible. Yelling across the room wasn't going to happen. Communication wasn't going to be possible at all. He sighed, his smile slowly fading as his eyes lost her in the crowd.

See you make your way through the crowd and say hello.

Little did I know…

Shockingly fast, she was in front of him, in that beautiful brown summer dress. Her luxurious blonde hair was up in a pony tail. He glanced down and smiled again. She was barefoot.

"Scatterbrain," he teased, not that she heard him.

That you were Romeo and you were throwing pebbles

And my daddy said stay away from Juliet.

She grabbed his hand and pulled him outside, onto the balcony of her sister's beach house. Her sister had married one of his best friends. They were enjoying the wedding party.

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone.

I'll be waiting, all that's left to do is run.

She slid the door shut and turned to him. Her best friend, the guy who had always been there for her. He was the one she would call at two o'clock in the morning because she heard a noise outside the apartment. He was the one she went to when all of her relationships ended in disaster. He was the only one who could put up with all her absent-mindedness. (She realized she didn't have any shoes on and sighed.)

You were everything to me,

I was begging you, 'Please don't go.'

He eyed her with a bittersweet expression on his face. "Where's your date?"

She shook her head. "Don't have one. I broke up with him."

"Should we go get some ice-cream?"

She shook her head again. "No. I don't want ice-cream."

"What do you want?"

"You," she replied, hoping he would have her after all the horrible things she had put him through.

It's a love story.

Baby, just say yes.

He kissed her, because words simply weren't enough in this situation. She kissed back and for her, things finally felt right and for him, it was about time.

We were both young, when I first saw you.
