The Knife of Desire
At first it isn't something
That you can control
You are lost, you are helpless
You are without a soul.
As you give into the madness
That sweeps into your being
A great rush of power
Compliments the red you are seeing.
Strengthening your senses
And focusing your mind
You feel the adrenaline
Creeping up from behind.
Emotions are lost
All except for one
The one to help you win
And when it is all said and done -
Was this not the reason
For you to fight this fight?
To commit so much time
Taken out of your own life
So many sacrifices,
Have come under this knife.
This knife was once so dull,
And rusty and abused
But now it is more than strong
Gleaming steel that is whole
It is power absolute.
The power to destroy
To create, and rebuild
To help or to hinder,
Or to bring boundless joy.
This power lies within you
Within every one of us all -
The power of desire
Is the heart's smoldering fire.
Stoke the flames,
Add more fuel
And watch as it rises.
One day, one day
A time will come
To accept its prices.
You've let it control you
You've let it take the wheel
The power it had given you
It was its own to steal.
Take from you it has
For a long time indeed
As your life passed you by
Twas realized as you dreamed.
The end is near
The end is now
As this poem closes
Furrow your brow.
Remember that goals are great
They are a part of life
Just don't obsess over them
Or they bring nothing but strife.
Take it easy
Just relax
My tale thus has been read.
I have no more to say to you
I think I'll go to bed.
