The beginning of my first story!
Alisa yawned, tiredly typing into the computer. It was six in the morning and she was in the computer lab, fixing one of the computers that someone had completely messed up.
Anyone else who was crazy enough to be in there was probably finishing an assignment that was due this day.
She rubbed at her eyes and tried to focus on the computer. It's too early in the day to fixing a computer like this, she typed in a few final commands and then shut it down. "They should just hire a technician…" she muttered to herself. A teacher walked into the lab.
"Alisa, you're needed. A student's computer broke down." Alisa sighed and picked up her bag as the teacher waited patiently.
"Alright." She followed the teacher out of the computer lab. It seemed like she was the one fixing everything, day and night. She never really had time to go anywhere when they had breaks, because by that time, several computers would be broken.
The teacher led her into her homeroom class. "Who's the person whose computer broke down?" she asked. The teacher pointed to a black-haired guy sitting in front of a computer. Alisa sighed. Great. It just had to be him, didn't it?" she thought to herself.
"Ethan Carlisle," stated the teacher. The most popular guy in school. Also one of the most stuck up and self-centered guys in school. He didn't care about anybody but himself. She walked over to him. Surprisingly, she didn't have to wade through the group of girls that usually surrounded him. It seemed as though all of them had vanished. "Although, it might have been because it's still six thirty in the morning," she mentally reflected. Ethan looked at her with the dark brown eyes that many girls would normally swoon to. His black hair was slightly mussed, but his clothing was wrinkle-free.
"Hey. Fix my computer." Alisa glared at him. Such a jerk. Perhaps all rich people were like that. No manners at all.
"You know, being polite to people wouldn't hurt." He rolled his eyes. "Really. You'll also find that more people will like you that way."
"Whatever. Most people like me anyways." She didn't move. Ethan made an aggravated noise. "Fine. Will you please fix my computer?"
"Yes. Glad to see you finally used your manners. Now, please move." He quietly moved from his seat. Alisa sat down and examined his computer. A BSOD*. How nice. First thing in the morning too. She looked up at Ethan. "What were you doing?"
"My essay." Alisa sighed and read the screen. "What application were you using before it crashed?" He shrugged.
"I don't know." Alisa shook her head and selected a command from the options.
"There. I set it to the last known good configuration, so it should be alright now. However, some stuff may be missing." He nodded. The computer had restarted and was running properly.
"Can I resume working now?" Alisa gave him a cold stare. "Right. Thank you for fixing my computer. Satisfied?" She nodded and got off the chair. He smirked. "You know, you look like a mess."
She sighed. "Sure...whatever…"

Alisa stayed after school and worked on a few of the computers that she didn't fix in the morning. As soon as she finished, she glanced up at the clock on the wall. It was 5:30 in the afternoon. "Darn it! I'm late!" She grabbed her stuff and ran out of the room.
A half an hour later, she arrived at a restaurant and ran in through the back door. "I'm sorry I'm late!" A red haired waitress, around the age of twenty three, was carrying a bunch of dishes to the kitchen. The waitress eyed her unhappily.
"You should be! I had to handle the orders by myself for the first part of the rush hour!"
"Liz, I'm terribly sorry! There were a bunch of computer repairs and…." Alisa trailed off. "Anyways, I'm here now." She quickly changed into her waitress uniform and undid her ponytail.
"You know, I don't even know why you keep your hair in a ponytail. It looks better when it's not tied up," Liz commented.
"But it gets in my face when I do things. I only undo it because they require me to." Alisa fixed some of the tangles in her hair.
"You don't even need to comb your hair, it's perfect." Alisa looked at Liz and shook her head. She walked out into the restaurant, with Liz following close behind. The restaurant was packed, and there was still a bunch of people outside, waiting to be seated. "This would be so much easier if Celeste, Jay, and Michael didn't all go take a vacation at the same time…" Liz muttered.
"Well, we should start taking orders…" Alisa walked over to the table closest to her and started talking with the people seated. "...Uh huh, do you want that with, or without dressing?"

"Theo, this place is freaking crowded. Look at all the people waiting inside," Ethan complained, shivering from the cold night air. He glared at the person who had brought him here.
"Cheer up! The wait isn't at as long as it seems. This place has pretty fast service." Theo smiled at Ethan.
"I can't believe I let you drag me into this…" he grumbled. "If we aren't seated in the next few hours, you're going to need to be sent to the hospital." Theo merely grinned.
"Trust me. The wait isn't that long." A couple minutes later, they were finally led to a table. "What to order…" Theo scrutinized one of the menus placed on the table. Ethan quickly scanned the other menu, picked one of the choices at random, and then set it down. "Ethan, do you think I should get the fried rice, or the noodles?"
"Who cares? Just pick one. Or both, if you just can't decide." Ethan looked around the restaurant, trying to alleviate his boredom. The restaurant was dimly lit, but he could still see quite well. It was also modern looking, with everything looking nice and new. The two waitresses also seemed quite lovely. Suddenly, one of them came up to their table. She was a really pretty girl, around his age. The waitress had wavy chestnut colored hair and nice clear green eyes. She looked shocked for a moment when she saw then, but then put on a small smile that looked, just a bit, forced. "Are you ready to order?" Theo smiled back at the waitress.
"Yes. We are," said Theo. The waitress took out a pen and a notepad. Ethan looked at her. Why does she seem so familiar? he pondered.
"And for you?" He blinked, a bit startled. He didn't realize that Theo had finished ordering.
"Oh." Ethan glanced at his menu. "Chicken curry."
"Would you like that mild, medium spicy, or very spicy?" The waitress wrote stuff down onto the notepad.
"Mild." The waitress nodded.
"Alright. Will that be all?" Her pen was still poised over the pad.
"Yes." The waitress put her pad and pen away in a pocket.
"You know, it wouldn't hurt to say a thank you." She walked away. Ethan stared after her, confused. Where did I hear those words before?
* A BSOD is commonly referred to as a Blue Screen of Death. It is caused by a fatal system error and is the error screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems when encountering a critical error that causes the system to crash.
