The Intricacies of a Valentines Mission

Author: Quinette

Summary: A penny for your thoughts.

VANESSA.

I knew, of course, how Sawyer felt about Cadee.

The entire world knew how Sawyer felt about my best friend, Cadee.

But Cadee, on the other hand, is rather clueless about love; she doesn't catch the signs.

Signs that Sawyer Austin Clancy is, in fact, in love with Cadee Lynne.

SIGN ONE: he's always looking at her.

And not lustfully, either. Instead, it's the kind of gaze a guy gives a girl when he's thinking "she's so pretty, I can't help but stare at her."

It's rather cute in the sickening kind of way.

SIGN TWO: he's always touching her.

Never hugs or kisses or just holding her hand.

Instead, they're simple caresses that Cadee passes off as nothing.

Brushing his hand against hers when he's handing her an object.

Pressing his thigh against hers as they're sitting in the lunchroom.

Small things, but enough to bring a blush to Cadee's face.

Even if she passes it off as nothing.

SIGN THREE: he spends all of his time with her.

There is not a single day that passes by when Sawyer does not dominate the majority of Cadee's time—whether he's at her house, teaching her math, or whether she's in his living room, watching him play COD.

I remember that one time, when Cadee got sick and couldn't come to school; it was like watching an alternate reality. Instead of Mr. Cool, Sawyer became restless and jumpy, easily agitated, and (in a way) lost.

And I'll give you one guess as to the first place Sawyer went to once school ended at 2.

SIGN FOUR: he puts up with her flaws.

He doesn't mind that she eats like a cow, sucks superbly at math, can't play COD for shit, and doesn't know when to shut up.

Sawyer probably doesn't even know these things could be considered her flaws.

He probably just thinks they're what makes her adorable.

In any case,

SIGN FIVE: he doesn't notice other women.

Not me, who's fucking sex on legs.

Not Emily Straightener, who's his childhood best friend.

Not Genevieve Hankle, who has the most annoying laugh ever.

To Sawyer, there's only Cadee.

And that's the main reason why I know, for a fact, that Sawyer Austin Clancy is in love with the clueless Cadee Anne Lynne.

-

EMILY.

Cadee hates me, or at least strongly dislikes.

And I don't blame her.

In fact, I give her a reason to.

I think it's funny how worked up she gets when I "innocently" touch Sawyer's arm or when I randomly hug him whenever she's in view.

I'm sadistic like that.

But I like Cadee Lynne. I really do.

I especially like the effect she has on Sawyer when she does something even remotely adorable.

It sends Sawyer's body into haywire.

And for me, who's a bona fide sadist, it's the ultimate entertainment.

-

GRADY.

You couldn't help but like Cadee. She made it impossible not to.

She was funny and kind and just generally loveable.

And then there's Sawyer, who's quiet and awkward rather dim-witted in the romantical sense.

I don't why Cadee even puts up with him.

He's rather insufferable.

-

DAISUKE.

I have a thing for Cadee, I've got to admit.

But if being too friendly with her entitles Sawyer ripping my balls out, I'd rather not take the risk.

-

KUMAR.

My best friend is pussy-whipped.

And secretly, I don't blame him.

Cadee Anne Lynne is rather like a fungus.

She's grown on me, too.

Author's Note: I made this a three-shot because it was an excuse for me to not finish reading the Catcher in the Rye.

YAY FOR PROCRASTINATION, YO.

In any case, I hope you've enjoyed reading about Sawyer and Cadee. Their relationship's a little dysfunctional, but it works out somehow :)

Reviews would be lovurlaaay.
