Kaylee walked down the path, her sunburned hands deep in the pockets of her white shorts. She barely felt the snap of a palm tree leaf against her arm. She was so deep in thought that when she tripped it took her a second to process why she was on the ground. The fresh smell of dirt (the likes of which was now undoubtedly stuck in her clothes) was what finally brought her out of her thoughts. It had been the first thing she had noticed about him; he was always covered in dirt, the long hours of his outdoor training practically demanding it.
