The next day at school, Adam didn't say a word to me, but Jack sat with me. He also happened to notice the grazes on me.

"What happened to your arm?"

"I slipped and fell over."

"Where?"

"Nowhere," I replied and he showed some concern.

'I'll be fine!" I assured him and then Adam came over.

"Hey man uh I'm ditching last, wanna come?" Jack looked to me and I said nothing.

"No, I'll just stay here."

"Suit yourself," Adam replied before walking away.

"Does he usually skip out on school?" I asked when he was out of earshot.

"Only when he needs to think about something and can't wait until home time..." The bell rang and I went to last class. I wasn't really focused because tomorrow night I would be going out with Jack to who knows where. I did the work but it didn't sink into my brain. Even as I walked home I was not conscious of where I was going but luckily it was mainly one straight path to Adam's house. I went up to my room and went on Facebook and about an hour later, Adam walked past my room, looked at me and smiled. I said "hey" and he said it back. In fact, all day Saturday he was very nice towards me.

"Hey do you think this is too much?" I asked Adam as I approached his door. He was on the computer and turned on his chair to see me and looked stunned or something. I was wearing a short dress with black ruffles down it and purple at the top.

"It's amazing, you look perfect," he said and then there was a knock on the door downstairs. I looked at him excitedly before running down the stairs to greet Jack. I opened the door and he gave me the same look Adam had.

"You ready to go?"

"Yeah," I said, slipping my shoes on and shutting the door behind me. He took me into the city and we went to the Opera House and watched Swan Lake, and then we wandered around the wharf before catching the bus back. As we approached Adam's house, he took hold of my hand. We reached the front door and he turned to face me. His lips met mine and it was an almost perfect first kiss.

"I'll see you on Monday?" he said and I nodded. He left and I sighed as I went inside. The lights were out and I noticed the time was 11.30pm. I tiptoed upstairs and almost made it to my room when Adam disturbed me.

"How did it go?"

"Adam! You scared me! Uh it went alright, nothing too special."

"Did you kiss him?"

"That is none of your business!" I replied before tossing myself on my bed.

So far, Adam hadn't asked any further questions about my date, which made me happy. On Monday night I had the most unfortunate run in with him though, which made me completely change my perspective on Adam. I went to clean my teeth but he was in the bathroom, and as I approached it, I saw he had no shirt on. Tanned skin and fit too, made me only stare even more. I took a breath in and stood against the wall and waited for him to come out. He emerged several minutes later and to my displeasure, with a shirt on. He nodded at me as he passed and I went into the bathroom. I cleaned my teeth and replayed the image of him in my head. God was he attractive!

"Where are you going again?" Adam asked, tossing a football above his head.

"Jack invited me over to study, that's all. I'll be home no later than ten pm." I said as I shut the door behind me. I quickly walked to Jack's house and we studied for about an hour when he lost complete interest in the studying and all his focus was on me. I saw him coming closer to me, and then I let the feeling of him kissing me pass through me again. But then he was getting too intimate and I pulled away. I stood up and shoved everything under my arm.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I'm sorry, I can't do this Jack, I have to go," I said and left in a hurry. I looked at my watch - it was only 9 pm. I burst through the front door, almost in panic and dropped everything that was under my arm and Adam saw the whole thing.

"Harley! What happened?"

"Jack - he-he kissed me and then got too into it and I couldn't deal with it! You know?" I said and looked him in the eye. He showed me a confused response before finally understanding what I had said. He hugged me in a friendly way.

"Harley I'm so sorry, I didn't think he'd do that. I'll talk to him, is that okay?" Too upset to say anything, I merely nodded my head.
