Chapter 16
I woke up the next morning smiling to myself as I the memories of yesterday's happenings came flooding back. I actually felt great today, even excited. I can't believe I'm officially Ash's girlfriend. No more pretend girlfriend.
I took a quick shower, put on some clothes, and brushed my hair using my comb, still smiling to myself. I sighed blissfully to myself and bounded down the stairs two at a time.
"Good morning." I announced happily as I pulled out a chair across from my brother. He looked at me with a weird expression like I was from another planet then shrugged.
"Someone seems happy today." My mom smiled as she wiped her hands on her apron. I looked at my mom and smiled at her. She had her hair in a messy bun that's threatening to be undone any moment. "I glad you're in a good mood today, honey."
I nodded and took a bite on my muffin. "Well, I better go. Don't want to be late or anything." I stood up, slung my backpack over my shoulder and headed out.
I walked through the campus grounds and sat under my usual spot under the tree. I sighed to myself and looked at my surroundings. There were couples holding hands, some were with their friends, the jocks were goofing around with each other, and the drama queens are doing their makeup.
Why do they always love redoing their makeup? I mean sometimes I think they do it a zillion times and they're still not satisfied with the results. I almost think they can't live without makeup.
"Thinking of me?" Ash teased snapping me out of my thoughts. He sat beside me and smiled. "You wish." I teased smiling at him.
He pouted. He's so cute when he does that and handsome still. "Of course I'm thinking of you, since I woke up." I smacked him playfully. He registered what I've just said and grinned at me with those pearly white teeth of his.
"God you don't know how much I've missed you." He sighed heavily. I smiled at him and loved that he missed me.
Suddenly the bell rang. Stupid bells always with a wrong timing, I cursed mentally gritting my teeth. "I guess I'll see you later after class." Ash kissed my cheek and waved back at me.
I missed at him and waved back. I looked down at my watch. I felt my eyes bulging out of my eye sockets. I better get going or I'll be late from God knows how many times. So, I did what any sane person would do in these kinds of situation. I ran.
I was gasping lung full of breaths as I reached my classroom. Fudge, I'm late. Again. Talk about bad luck early in the morning. I inhaled and stepped inside my classroom.
"It's about time Miss Knightley." My professor glared over his ancient looking glasses. Which reminds me of Harry Potter, just by looking at him. I suppressed a giggle at the thought.
"Sorry." I muttered and scanned the room for an empty sit. Oh God, Nate. Only empty sit left, it might as well have a sign written over it 'EMPTY SIT BESIDE MR. I-KNOW-EVERYTHING.'
I caught Nate' eyes and he smirked at me. Whatever. It's just for one class not the entire day. I took my time in walking towards my doom and sat. A heavy sigh escaped my lips.
"Good morning, princess." I didn't look at him but I can feel the smirk on his face as he said those words. "So, ignoring me aren't you?" he said with a smile.
"Mr. Sullivan and Miss Knightley, please precede your discussion in the principal's office." Our professor bellowed glaring at us. What the fuck? I wasn't even talking to him! I am not going to have detention.
I stood up and reasoned, "B-But – "
"No buts." He bellowed pointing at the door for us to leave. Fine, I huffed.
"This is your entire fault! I wasn't even acknowledging your presence." I protested. I was even getting in more trouble than Ash.
"How is this any of my fault?" he said quirking a brow as we headed towards the principal's office. Finally, we've reached the principal's office.
We both stood in front of the principal. Only the ancient oak wood desk was separated between us. "So, what brings you here?" he asked.
"We shall precede our conversation here as our professor told us." Nate announced looking at the principals assessing gaze on us.
"Detention, huh?" he said rubbing his jaw. Nate and I looked at each other and shrugged. "I have the perfect job for you two." He announced with an evil smile. I don't think I'm going to like this one bit.
"Told you, I'm not going to like this one bit." I groaned crinkling my nose from the stench of smell. "I can't believe we're really picking up horse crap as a punishment for talking. I didn't even talk to you!" I protested shoving horse crap.
"You think I like picking horse crap?" he said using a rake to shove a whole pile of horse crap. "I was only being friendly but look what that got me into. She doesn't even appreciate the friendliness." He sighed and shook his head.
"Don't talk like I'm not here to hear what you just said." I said angrily. Now how am I supposed to go out with Ash if I'm here with him shoving horse crap for 3 whole days?
The principal told use to clean the horses "mess" for one day. Then we looked at him like 'What?' then laughed at his face. He turned as bright as a tomato and he angrily told us to add two more days. We were like "Are you serious, you've got to be kidding me."
At first I thought it's just for 3 days anyway. It wouldn't be that bad but who would think that horses have so much crap. What are they eating anyway?
"Ewww. This is just gross. I think I just saw something that's not supposed to be in a horse's crap." I said flinching away from it.
"How'd you know? Are you a horse crap expert or something?" he snorted. He dropped his rake and walked over to me, looking at it. "What the fuck is that? I'm pretty sure you're right. That is just wrong." He said flinching away.
Then I thought of something to take revenge on him. I raised the rake a little and slowly attempted to throw it to him. He looked at me with horror and raised both his hands up in surrender. "Ashley. Don't you dare come any closer." He warned.
"What? I'm sorry; I can't seem to hear you." I said coming closer. Oh, revenge is sweet. He took a step back as I took a step toward him.
"God dammit, Ashley. Stop it! God knows what's in there and I don't want to be the one finding out what's inside that load of polluted shit." He glared at me.
I smiled at him innocently and shoved the horse crap at him. He looked at me with a surprised expression. "You better run, Ashley." He warned with an evil smile.
I squealed, dropped the rake and ran for my life. I'll be damned if I was going to have horse shit all over me.
After several minutes of hiding behind the barn. My nose detected something smelly, I turned around and saw Nate's evil smile. "Oh my god, You smell so bad." I pinched my nose and smiled at him.
"I'm flattered. But I think you need a hug." He smiled evilly coming closer with his arms outstretched.
"Thanks, but I think I'll pass." I said waving my hands taking a step backward.
"No, no. I insist." He grinned then crush his clothes-covered- with- horse- crap body around me.
"Ewww." I said as he released me. "I'm going to have a very very long shower tonight." I announced.
We looked at each other and laughed our heads off. "We smell like crap." I announced.
"We are covered with crap." He grinned at me.
