COMIC BOOK
SHMUEL BREBAN

PAGE 1, SPLASH:

The area that was occupied by the primary group (Leah, Yitzchak, Dan, Hoshea, Peninah, Calev, and Menucha) is obscured by smoke. Wedding guests are running away. Mossad agents are hurrying away the prime minister, who is keeping his head down while running.

Caption (top-left): Neve Ativ Park, Wed., 5:55 pm IST.

PAGE 2-3, 4 PANELS:

The first panel covers most of the spread. Panels 2-4 are inset on the bottom third of page 3.

Panel 1. Some tribesmen are rushing toward ground zero, which is now a large crater. The greatest focus is upon Yitzchak, who's crying and screaming as he holds Leah's corpse inside the crater. Leah has a massive hole in her torso (not drawn in great detail, just enough so we get the picture). Dan, Hoshea, and Peninah are in the process of rising from the crater, and appear to be (more or less) okay. Calev and Menucha are dead, and although not to the extent of Leah, have visible gashes.

Panel 2. Leah's face.

Panel 3. Calev's corpse (mostly intact).

Panel 4. Menucha's corpse (mostly intact).

PAGE 4, 4 PANELS:

Panel 1. Dan, only mildly-to-moderately injured, guides Yitzchak away from the scene. Yitzchak notices Menucha and Calev. Meanwhile, Hoshea and Peninah cry over Leah's body.

YITZCHAK

Grandma!

DAN

Shhh, it's okay, son.

Panel 2. Members of Tribe Reuven escort Hoshea and Peninah away from Leah's body.

Panel 3. Nearby, Shaul apprises a furious Moshe.

SHAUL

Hoshea, his wife, and the bride are dead.

Panel 4. Aerial shot of the wreckage, which includes medics approaching ground zero.

PAGE 5, 3 PANELS:

Panel 1: MASON JOHNSON (34 yo African-American) speaks on his political talk show. There is a logo on the bottom right that reads, "Fairly Balanced".

Caption (top left): Chicago, Wed. evening:

MASON JOHNSON

...and I'm Mason Johnson.

MASON JOHNSON (CONT'D)

Three are dead, as the tribal wedding in Neve Ativ, Israel was struck by a devastating terrorist attack today.

MASON JOHNSON (CONT'D)

An as of yet unidentified missile or rocket attack killed the bride, Leah of Tribe Reuven-

MASON JOHNSON (CONT'D)

-and the groom's grandparents, Calev and Menucha of Tribe Dan.

Panel 2.

MASON JOHNSON

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Tribes have understandably been unavailable to comment on the situation.

MASON JOHNSON (CONT'D)

We can only wonder how this immensely powerful group will respond if and when they identify their assailants.

Panel 3. Tribesmen are shoveling dirt onto three graves.

Caption (top-left): Neve Ativ, Thurs., 8 am IST.

PAGE 6, 2 PANELS:

Panel 1. A tear drips down an angry Yitzchak's cheek, as he and Dan shovel dirt onto a grave. Hoshea and Peninah stand a few feet away.

Panel 2. Inside Dan's cottage, many tribesmen console the mourners. Toward the top-left of the panels sit (from our left to tight): Dan, Yitzchak, and Hoshea. Yitzchak has revenge in his eyes. Eli is speaking to Dan. Toward the right of the panels tribeswomen speak with a seated Peninah. The seats of the mourners are approximately 12 inches off of the ground (relatively low). Dan has a visible tear in the portion of his garment covering his heart, and both Yitzchak and Hoshea have a slightly smaller tear on the portions of their garments which cover the right side of their chest.

ELI

...comfort you amongst the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

ELI (CONT'D)

(small lettering, whispering)

The Rebbe would like to speak candidly with you at his home.

PAGE 7, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1. Eli, Zevulun, Shlomo, and Shaul sit on the far side of the table (top of panel), and Dan stands before them.

ELI

Dan, your parents and daughter-in-law have just passed, are you certain that you're ready?

DAN

This... this must be avenged immediately.

Panel 2. Just Eli.

ELI

It will be, but considering what we're about to unleash, we must be precise with our response.

ELI (CONT'D)

The Rebbe will meet with the Prime Minister's Forum of Seven this afternoon. They are to reveal their findings in regards to the missile's origin.

Panel 3. Everyone.

ELI

The Rebbe requests that you be - present - before and after the meeting, so as to ensure that we receive the complete truth.

Panel 4. Just a determined Dan.

DAN

Understood.

Panel 5. Dan is rushing to leave his home, but Yitzchak is insistent upon something.

DAN

No.

YITZCHAK

Yes! I did it like ten times back home. Father, please, it's not fair!

PAGE 8, 6 PANELS:

Panel 1. Dan has grabbed his jacket.

DAN

I can handle it alone.

YITZCHAK

I have just as much right to be there! And I'm going to fight, too!

DAN

We can talk about that when I get back.

Panel 2. Just an insistent Yitzchak.

YITZCHAK

No! I'm going with you, even if I have to turn invisible and hide in the trunk! They murdered my grandparents and my wife!

Panel 3. Dan is reconsidering.

Panel 4.

DAN

Although everything connected to us will remain invisible to them, if you drop anything, or even cough-

YITZCHAK

I remember the rules!

Panel 5. Dan exhales in exasperation.

Panel 6. Yitzchak follows Dan, who's about to exit.

DAN

Get in the car.

PAGE 9, 6 PANELS:

Panel 1. The Forum of Seven sits in a similar configuration as seen in Issue #1 - Prime Minister Moshe Goren is between our 9 and 10 o'clock;, MK Yonatan Isaacharoff is at 11; Eliyahu Ben-Yosef is at 12; MK Benny Isaacharoff is between 1 or 2; MK Sarah Perelman is at 3; MK Uri Shapira is between 4 and 5. MK Haim Levy is at 6 (Eliyahu and Haim are facing each other from a distance of 12 feet apart).

MK URI SHAPIRA

Yes, it was definitely a Yakhont cruise missile, and trajectory and satellites confirm point of origin is Syria.

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

And we're sure it was the Syrian Army and not Hezbollah?

MK URI SHAPIRA

Yes. The Russians sold this version of the Yakhont to the Syrian government, and our intel says that Hezbollah has yet to get their hands on any.

Panel 2. Just Uri.

Caption (near Uri): MK Uri Shapira, Minister of Intelligence and Atomic Energy: Political head of the Israeli intelligence community, represents the right wing, "liberal conservatism" LIKUD Party.

MK URI SHAPIRA

I should note that we are investigating why we weren't signaled in time to evacuate-

MK URI SHAPIRA (CONT'D)

-and we've installed our best radar tech in Neve Ativ, so this won't happen again.

Panel 3. Just Sarah.

Caption: MK Sarah Perelman, Minister of Foreign Affairs: Arguably the 3rd most important politician in Israel, represents the "revisionist zionism", economically liberal YISRAEL BEITENU Party.

MK SARAH PERELMAN

But are we going to just hand over this information to the tribes?

MK SARAH PERELMAN (CONT'D)

They won't just retaliate, they'll wipe Syria off of the map, and the world will condemn us!

MK SARAH PERELMAN (CONT'D)

Shouldn't our military handle this?

Panel 4. Just Yonatan.

Caption: MK Yonatan Isaacharoff, Minister of Defense: Oversees most of the Israeli military, 2nd most important politician in Israel, represents the center-left, social democracy LABOR Party.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

This isn't necessarily such a bad thing. The tribes will act on their own, and we'll have plausible deniability.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF (CONT'D)

And after all, when we are attacked, their governments argue that the terrorism was perpetrated by renegade groups. What's good for the goose...

Panel 5.

Caption: MK Benny Isaacharoff, Minister of Strategic Affairs: Security coordinator, represents LIKUD.

MK BENNY ISAACHAROFF

Will not be good for the gander. With all due respect to my father, we are Israel. We can't get away with anything.

MK BENNY ISAACHAROFF (CONT'D)

I know for a fact that my father is able to coordinate an attack on Syria within the hour. We can handle this ourselves. We will be blamed regardless.

Panel 6. Just Yonatan's stoic facial expressions.

PAGE 10, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1. The PM's hand is slightly raised, palm facing Benny, in a somewhat dismissive manner.

Caption: Prime Minister Moshe Goren, LIKUD.

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

This angle is irrelevant because the tribes won't allow it.

MK HAIM LEVY

Won't allow it? Your Excellency, you are the leader of our country...

Panel 2. Just Haim

Caption: MK Haim Levy, Minister without Portfolio: Although not a head of any particular industry, largely considered the most intelligent member of the Knesset, represents LIKUD.

MK HAIM LEVY

They are just a bunch of charlatans with technology.

MK HAIM LEVY (CONT'D)

We simply cannot allow them to dictate terms.

MK HAIM LEVY (CONT'D)

Which brings me to my proposal...

Panel 3. Everyone listen to Haim.

MK HAIM LEVY

If they're going to wipe out a sovereign nation, let us select the nation.

MK HAIM LEVY (CONT'D)

For 10 years I have warned this Forum of the grave Iranian threat. We can deal with the Syrians on our terms, which we've done before.

MK HAIM LEVY (CONT'D)

Let us tell these "tribes" that Iran was responsible for the attack.

Panel 4. Just Haim.

MK HAIM LEVY

They needed our help to investigate the missile. They don't know how to do anything.

MK HAIM LEVY (CONT'D)

They are ignorant buffoons, and wouldn't realize if we... guided them in the direction of our choosing.

Panel 5. Just Eliyahu.

Caption 1: MK Eliyahu Ben-Yosef, Minister of Internal Affairs: Primarily controls religious issues, represents the orthodox, conservative SHAS Party.

MK ELIYAHU BEN-YOSEF

Ignorant buffoons? Your Excellency, I have read the responsa of Jewish Law produced by the tribes in just the past few days... They are geniuses.

PAGE 11, 6 PANELS:

Panel 1. Everyone.

MK ELIYAHU BEN-YOSEF

They need us today, but we will need them tomorrow. Even MK Levy, who clearly doesn't believe that these men are actually the ten lost tribes of Israel-

MK ELIYAHU BEN-YOSEF

-admits that their science is light years ahead of ours...

MK HAIM LEVY

I never said that they built it, and I suspect that their technology, if tested under laboratory conditions, would prove mostly smoke and mirrors.

Panel 2. Haim and Eliyahu (the middle section of the forum) is the focus. Haim is intense. Eliyahu is annoyed.

MK HAIM LEVY

And I don't care if they were able to scribble down some thoughts on the Talmud, Rabbi. It will not help them here in the real world, which is where we reside, yes?

MK HAIM LEVY

This is why I propose the Iranian Solution BEFORE it becomes too late!

Panel 3. The focus is on the PM and Yonatan.

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

(to Yonatan)

Yonatan?

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

While I remain on the fence as to the veracity of these tribes, they are warriors with whom we should not trifle.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF (CONT'D)

And quite frankly, I continue to maintain that, unofficially of course, we view them as a branch of the Israeli military.

Panel 4. The PM touches his earpiece, as if receiving a message.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF (O.P.)

Let them handle this, and we-

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

Hold on. They're here.

Panel 5. A Mossad agent escorts in Shlomo, Zevulun, Eli, and Shaul.

Panel 6. Haim's facial expressions reveal his contempt for the tribesmen.

PAGE 12, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1. Room has been made, and the tribal reps are seated to the PM's right (between the PM and an unhappy Haim). Haim ans Shaul sit uncomfortably near each other, and neither is thrilled.

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

We have definitively confirmed that the Syrian government was behind the missile attack.

ELI

And these Syrians... they are the same as those that exiled our tribes in the first place?

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

Whether today's Syrians are the Assyrians of old remains unclear...

Panel 2. Eli is looking toward Shlomo. The PM is also in the shot.

ELI

The Rebbe requests a general synopsis of Israel-Syria relations.

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

Yonatan...

Panel 3. Just a sighing Yonatan.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

Where to start...

Panel 4. Semi-wide shot.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

We've fought four major wars with Syria, and captured The Golan Heights in the Six-Day War of June, '67.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

Long story short, many Arab nations - lead by Egypt, Jordan, and Syria - had conspired to eliminate Israel.

Panel 5. Just Yonatan.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

Their words, pacts, and actions forced us to launch a preemptive strike on Egypt, but for our purposes, let us focus on Syria...

PAGE 13, 8 PANELS:

Just Yonatan in an 8-panel (talking head) grid.

Panel 1.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

The Syrian Army had used the Golan Heights as a launching pad from which to shell our farms and villages for years, and the attacks grew more frequent in '65 and '66...

Panel 2.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

Despite our pleas, the UN did nothing to stop the Syrian aggression, but naturally condemned us when we retaliated.

Panel 3.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

We won the '67 war, thank G-d, in a spectacular and decisive fashion. Afterward, the Arabs attempted to accomplish diplomatically what they couldn't militarily.

Panel 4.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

The UN unanimously passed Resolution 242 to provide guidelines for a peace settlement.

Panel 5.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

The Arabs chose not only to ignore their responsibilities of 242 by resuming hostilities, but chose to interpret 242 in a manner which had been rejected by the UN...

Panel 6.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

The wording of 242 was quite deliberate. The Arabs and the Soviets requested it state that Israel return "all" of the territories she captured in the war-

Panel 7.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

-but the word "all" was rejected, and although we've returned much of the lands we captured in '67, we maintain that we need not return all of it, especially the Golan Heights.

Panel 8.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

And although the Syrians attempted to recover the Golan in the Yom Kippur War of October, '73-

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

-they were unsuccessful and only recovered a small part in the '74 disengagement agreement.

PAGE 14, 7 PANELS:

Panel 1.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

The area remains hotly contested, but we would be fools to capitulate to their demands on such a strategic territory.

Panel 2.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

So, Syria continually allies itself with our enemies, including Hezbollah, and levies threats upon us.

Panel 3.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

As you can imagine, your tribal march through Syria and your presence in the Golan has... not improved things.

Panel 4. Just Sarah

MK SARAH PERELMAN

Yes, they even called me and threatened to cancel our apple export agreement.

Panel 5. Yonatan stares a hole through Sarah, who indicates fear.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

Upsetting the apple carts is not our concern.

Panel 6. Semi-wide.

ELI

And if we're to seek retribution on the attack, as discussed yesterday?

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

My forum agrees that the tribal response should- need not be associated with our government.

Panel 7. Haim indicates contempt.

PAGE 15, 4 PANELS:

Panel 1.

ELI

But the response itself?

PRIME MINISTER MOSHE GOREN

Has our blessing.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF (O.P.)

But do it right...

Panel 2. Yonatan holds a thick envelope with both hands.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

My men and I have prepared a package for you, the contents of which should, obviously, be handled with the utmost discretion.

MK YONATAN ISAACHAROFF

It is our belief that with this intelligence and the ability of your men... the Syrians will not trouble us anytime soon.

Panel 3. Wide shot, silence.

Panel 4. Shaul and Haim, still scrunched together, make eye contact in a manner that suggests mutual disgust for one another.

PAGE 16, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1. It's near sundown. Yitzchak and Devorah sit on the swings (but barely move) of N.A. Park and chat. Yitzchak is to our left of Devorah.

Caption: Neve Ativ Park, Thurs., 5:57 pm IST.

DEVORAH

I'm really sorry, Yitzchak.

YITZCHAK

Yeah... thanks... um, listen, so you know that after what happened, we're going to go to war soon - don't tell anybody - and, uh, it's real serious...

DEVORAH

Yes, of course it is. Everyone knows we're probably going to war.

Panel 2.

YITZCHAK

Right, um, and today, me and my father did some stuff, and I sort of realized how important the abilities of our tribe will be.

DEVORAH

I know. I wish they'd let me fight.

YITZCHAK

Yeah, uh, I don't know... anyway, they have this plan to, like, make more kids of tribe Dan pretty quick- never mind, what I'm trying to say is-

Panel 3.

YITZCHAK

-even though this war is going to be soon, from everything I've been hearing, I think we can expect more around here on a regular basis...

DEVORAH

Just like back home.

Panel 4. Just Yitzchak.

YITZCHAK

Yeah. Exactly, but maybe even bigger. So, like, if you still don't mind, I think that after my 30 days of mourning, maybe...

Panel 5. Yitzchak indicates guilt, and Devorah indicates surprise.

YITZCHAK

Maybe we can get married?

PAGE 17, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1.

DEVORAH

Wow... um, I don't know what to say. Are you sure?

YITZCHAK

I am, Devorah. I really am. I know exactly what I need to do now, and what's important. This is the right thing.

Panel 2. Silence.

Panel 3. Just a smiling Devorah.

DEVORAH

Okay.

Panel 4. Devorah is smiling, and Yitzchak is making an effort to do the same (half-smile, or the like).

YITZCHAK

Yeah?

DEVORAH

Yeah.

Panel 5. Just Yitzchak.

YITZCHAK

Cool. So, like, I need to go pray and then we have a big meeting with the Rebbe. Catch 'ya later.

PAGE 18, 3 PANELS:

Panel 1. Yitzchak, his back to Devorah, has walked 8 feet away and stopped.

DEVORAH

Yitzchak, wait!

Panel 2. Yitzchak has turned around and faced Devorah.

DEVORAH

But do you love me?

Panel 3. Just a smiling Yitzchak.

YITZCHAK

I will.

PAGE 19, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1. Establishing shot of Shlomo's cottage at night.

Panel 2. Inside, Eli, Zevulun, Shlomo, and Shaul sit on the far side of the table, and Dan and Yitzchak stand before the four.

DAN

...and then that one continued to press the Prime Minister to lie to us-

DAN

-but the Prime Minister's second, Yonatan, argued against this, and he views us as being part of their team.

Panel 3. Dan is trying to recall something. Yitzchak is reminding Dan.

DAN

And our biggest supporter... I'm drawing a blank as to his name...

YITZCHAK

Father, was it not Eliyahu of the religious Shas party?

Panel 4.

DAN

Yes, very good, Yitzchak. I believe that Eliyahu might be of use to us down the road.

ELI

Interesting... The Rebbe thanks you for your service.

Panel 5. As Dan and Yitzchak approach the exit, they cross paths with the entering, massive gladiator of tribe Shimon, named SHIMON (50 yo, largest member of the tribes).

PAGE 20, 5 PANELS:

Panel 1: Shimon, now holding his helmet, stands before the four. Shimon has a scar on the right side of his face, which is prominently displayed in this shot.

Caption (near Shimon): Shimon, leader of Tribe Shimon and undisputed general of the ten tribes.

ZEVULUN

General Shimon, where do we stand on the data analysis?

GENERAL SHIMON

It is near completion, Zevulun.

ZEVULUN

And then?

Panel 2.

GENERAL SHIMON

I will need a day to prepare the tribes for their missions. We will then need to place each unit.

GENERAL SHIMON

It will take a few hours for the units designated to Northern Syria to reach their targets.

Panel 3.

GENERAL SHIMON

We can't use Israeli weaponry, for it would reveal their involvement, but they have agreed to arrange for our transport into the field.

GENERAL SHIMON

Assuming none of the vehicles are made, we should retain the element of surprise.

Panel 4.

ZEVULUN

And then all of our tribes will simultaneously strike their respective targets?

GENERAL SHIMON

Correct.

Panel 5.

ZEVULUN

Is there anything more that you need?

GENERAL SHIMON

Our weaponry are fully prepped, but there remains one item. I would feel more comfortable if we had a misdirection.

PAGE 21, PANELS:

Panel 1. Just Shimon.

GENERAL SHIMON

It would make it easier for our transports to reach their destinations if the Syrians were focused on something else.

Panel 2. Just Shlomo.

SHLOMO

Press conference.

Panel 3. Nobody (besides Shaul) seems to understand.

Panel 4. Zevulun and Shimon are looking to Eli for an explanation of Shlomo's words, but Eli's shrugging and slightly extended palms reveal that he has none.

Panel 5. A smiling Shaul speaks to the group.

SHAUL

I believe that my father is saying, based upon the reaction to our last press conference, we should hold another.

Panel 6. Just Shaul.

SHAUL

The world awaits our response to the missile attack, and if we announce a press conference, all eyes and ears, including the Syrians, will be upon it.

Panel 7. Eli indicates jealousy, as Shaul continues.

SHAUL

They will expect the conference to reveal the nature of our response plan. But in actuality, we will announce that...

PAGE 22, SPLASH:

Shaul speaks at the podium during a press conference held at Neve Ativ Park in the morning. There is an even larger audience of reporters and media than what was present at the earlier press conference. Many of the reporters indicate shock. Some police and two gladiators of Tribe Shimon stand present, as well.

Caption: Sunday, 10:05 am IST.

SHAUL

...as of 5 minutes ago, the ten returning tribes, independent of Israel, is at war with Syria.

End of Found #4. This completes FOUND VOL. 1: Return of the Ten Lost Tribes. Volume 2 is entitled "Biblical", and G-d willing, should drop... ... ... ...eventually… maybe.
