It Wasn't Confidence

In kindergarten you

Would beat up all the boys

You were so tough

No one dared to steal your toys

I took your attitude as good

I thought what you had was confidence

Never guessed what was done

To make you like this

In second grade your parents pulled you out

And in the hallway I heard the shouts

They were angry, you were scared

But you stood your ground, and I thought,

"Wow, she has confidence

To stand up in what she believes in"

Never guessed what was done

To make you like this

Years have come and years have passed

Colors have faded and so has the glass

That shielded me from your wrath

I think about what you've become

And I know now what was done

You don't have any confidence

It was insecurity that made you like this.
