Distraction

The sound of children playing in the yard

wishing I could leave all cares and join them

find a wardrobe or cross a bridge

and find something a world where

I can see all points from one

Distraction

the desire to feel warm dough between my fingers

to smell cookies baking in the oven

find the combination of spices that make my taste buds tingle with delight

Distraction

thinking of a home that wasn't really mine

a land that I could never dream of conquering

a place where I am loved and held in arms

that welcome me as a daughter and friend

Distraction

looking at books

staring at papers

knowing I am not what I hope to be

seeing the sun smile one last time

realizing how much there is left to accomplish

Distraction

thinking of you

wondering what you think of me

hoping I have made the right decision

praying that I have not left you for an impossible dream
