"I can't believe that you're saying what I think you're saying," Lisa told Naomi as she wheeled her into the rickety elevator that they used to get from floor to floor of the warehouse
Naomi laughed and shrugged, "What? With your ability you could really go places. You can see someone's knowledge with just a touch, I mean that could benefit police; you could go into private investigations. OH! You could start a show…'what's My Man's Greatest Secret?" You could be rolling in money."
"Yes, because money is so the top of my priority right now," Lisa laughed.
"Why not go places? There's nothing keeping you here other than you're a fugitive like us."
"Plenty is keeping me here, Naomi. Someone has to observe Jane and make sure that nothing goes wrong with her programing."
"What could possibly go wrong?"
"You forget that Able designed her entire way of thinking in less than five minutes. He undid everything that it took us twenty weeks to embed within her. Several variables could contribute to her suddenly taking a turn for the worst and I worry that if she reverts back to her original purpose, the first people she attacks will be you."
"So, you're staying over something that might happen."
"Also, you need some sort of liaison between yourselves and David and it seems that that duty has fallen to me. None of you can talk to him without arguing about the fact that he's part of whatever conspiracy you can think of."
"That's because he is"
Why are you so eager to get rid of me? What? Is my room bigger or something?"
"No reason, it's just strange to me that someone so educated and has such an amazing power would be hiding out here with those of us who have nowhere else to go."
"Naomi, you forget that I've been trapped in the facility for years. The only time I got out was because they wanted me to get a college education and even then I didn't bond with anyone because I knew that they'd take that away eventually too. Even with my education and ability, I also have nowhere else to go. But you know, you know, you could leave as well"
"No," Naomi folded her hands in her lap while Lisa wheeled her out of the elevator, "I called a couple of friends earlier today and thanks to the police and facility, they now believe that I'm some sort of felon. They made sure that I had no help. It sucks, I have to live in hiding and I haven't even done anything wrong."
"Unfortunately, that seems to be how life works," Lisa let go of the wheelchair to unlock the door to the holding cells, "Hello Ms. Trent, we have your lunch."
Kyrie didn't look at them as they entered; she just sat on the bed with her knees drawn up against her chest. Her breakfast tray a few hours earlier sat untouched on the table, "I'm not hungry."
"Look you have to eat something," Naomi told her.
"It doesn't matter; I won't be here for long anyway."
"You can't escape this room, and your people have no idea where you are. They won't be able to find you."
"That's not what I meant."
Naomi and Lisa exchanged glanced, "What do you mean?"
"It's nothing, just leave me alone and don't even think about extracting the information from me. I'm not going to tell you anything."
"I wouldn't do something like that," Lisa told her honestly.
"I don't believe you."
"That's your prerogative. But I don't use my ability unless it's a last resort. Which is more than what I can say about what the Facility would do if they thought you knew something. What are you scared of? We can protect you from it."
"Highly doubtful." She played with the blanket just so that she wouldn't have to look at them, "After all, David would do anything to keep me from telling you about him."
"What are you talking about?" Lisa demanded.
"Oh, you didn't know?" she looked at them and smirked, "I thought he was your leader. Why is he in such a powerful position among all of you if none of you seem to trust each other?"
"That's enough," Lisa grabbed Naomi's chair and wheeled her out of the door, "Don't listen to her, she's trying to drive a wedge between all of us."
"Too late for that," Naomi looked down to the second floor where David was talking to someone on the phone, "At least Able says he's almost done tracing the phone lines, so I guess we'll have our answers soon."
"Hope we can hold onto Kyrie long enough just in case this tracing thing doesn't work."
"What do you mean by that?" Naomi raised an eyebrow.
"Just what she said…about not being here for long."
"It could just be talk. She seems really good at that." Naomi replied.
"How'd it go?" Joseph asked as he passed by. He directed the question more at Naomi than Lisa. Naomi didn't know what the history was between the two of them, but she guessed that it was something bad given how Joseph did his best not to talk to her as much as possible.
"She's still not really saying anything. Good luck trying to get her to talk when you bring her dinner."
