Dancing in the rain,

Running, freedom,

Tagging friends,

Running, screaming,

Faint rumbles of thunder,

The rain lightens,

The sky brightens,

Friends throwing flowers at each other,

End of spring, end of school,

Things are coming crashing to an end,

Crashing down like the cardboard fort,

Collapsing in on itself,

The one that five friends built,

Just the day before,

One left soon afterwards,

One the next morning,

Not able to run in the rain,

Crashing to an end is the independence,

The freedom,

To run in the rain with such friends,

The life on campus here at this school,

Know this: Freedom can lead to procrastination,

And those who pay for people to stay,

Will no longer,

Over the summer,

I pray there'll be more chances,

To see them,

To build cardboard box forts,

To dance and play in the rain,

To watch our favorite web show with glee,

And love the teenage dream that is,

The leading man,

And then watch another,

One that takes much longer,

But is just as brilliant,

With two sisters and one camera,

And let new friends meet old,

Celebrating a summer birthday,

Maybe with a movie,

Maybe with something small,

At home,

And let a little sister join in,

Either way,

But I wish I could,

Go back to that day,

Nearly one year ago,

When we watched a movie with a man,

Filled with rage,

And wanted ruby rain,

Then we wandered around in the night,

Or that day,

When we watched a movie with a man,

Who solved the crime,

Facing a man in the woods,

Or that day,

We watched that movie,

With that boy,

Who was free for a day with his friends,

Dancing in the rain,

Running, freedom,

Tagging friends,

Running, screaming,

Faint rumbles of thunder,

The rain lightens,

The sky brightens,

Summertime
