On Friday Ian didn't come to Kyle's locker.
"Kyle, it's not the end of the world." Carol says, trying to console her depressed best friend. "I'm sure he has a perfectly good reason."
"Yeah, because I'm gay. How come when I finally admit it and find a guy I like, everything just falls apart?" Kyle's voice is completely monotone, and Carol is mentally freaking out.
"Babe, if that's why he isn't talking to you, you do not want him, trust me. No need to deny who you are to make others happy." Kyle nods because, of course, that's what most good friends would say in a situation like this, but that doesn't really help. Well, not for him.
"I got another note." He says. Carol perks up.
"Well? What did it say?"
"Just about how I should accept me for me and hopefully someday we can meet." Carol giggles.
"Well maybe they can help you forget about Ian." She suggests.
Kyle thinks it over. "Yeah, maybe."
Later that night, Kyle gets a text.
Sorry I couldn't talk to you today, had some things to take care of. Want you to know that I'm not blowing you off. Are we still cool for tomorrow?
Kyle tries to be angry, but it all vanishes. He is just simply relieved and replied with a much awaited yes.
