I'm not so sure what it was that made it so hard not to stare. Maybe it was the bright red sequenced top hat that you had balancing on your head, with your brown hair pinned up under it. Or maybe the way you skipped and hopped around on that street corner, in your sparkly ruby flats, your eyes full of delight, smiling and laughing at the people around you. Or maybe when your red coattails followed behind you.

Then I noticed the bright yellow flyers you had in your hand that you were passing out to by-standers, imprinting your smile into their minds. I couldn't help but stare, and I didn't seem to be the only one. I started my way across the street, safely avoiding cars as I went, being pulled in by your presence. You spotted me making my way and caught my eye, your beautiful blue eyes looking at me. Your face was pale compared to the blood red lipstick you had along your lips, and the dark eyeliner that circled your eyes. That could have been enough to stop me in my tracks, but the magnet pulling me to you was too strong. You broke the glance and continued handing out flyers to the people watching you, as curious as I at what exactly you were doing on that street corner. I stepped onto the curb, and stood among the crowd that had gathered around you. Walking from person to person you handed out your flyers. Then you again noticed me, you skipped over and put the hand filled with flyers on my shoulder and handed me a flyer in the other, silently I took it, unable to take my eyes away from yours. Your mouth was moving but I was to aw struck to understand what you said. You smiled at me, directly at me, and turned and went onto the next person. I just stared at where you had been, almost as though I hadn't yet noticed that you had left. Quickly I noticed how dry my mouth felt and realized it was open in aw. Slowly I looked down at the flyer, taking a few seconds for the words to come clear to me.

It read;

The flyer was covered in pictures of some of the circuses acts, and at the bottom in fine print was the contact info and the location. Only a week, that was al the time you would be in town I realized. Looking up again, noticing the sounds all around me and once again spotting you. Almost as though you knew, you turned towards me and winked with a drop dead smile. That was Day 1.
