CHAPTER ONE:

CAYDEN:

HAYWIRE:

I stood there in shock. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. I tried to process it in my head.

"Cayden?" Evie asked.

I snapped out of my little daze.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yeah, look for yourself." She handed me the little white stick.

"What the hell does this mean?" I asked referring to the lines in the little box.

"Two lines means pregnant. One line means not pregnant."

I looked back down at the little stick. There were two lines. I was going to be a dad.

"Will you say something please?" she sounded scared.

"Are you happy?" I asked her.

"Are you?" she asked back.

"Well, this is the worst possible time for this to be happening… But yeah I'm happy." I said smiling.

"Really?" Evie asked.

"Yeah"

"I'm happy too." She said smiling back at me.

A rush of joy flew through me. I grabbed Evie and kissed her. I put my hand on her stomach. I bent down and lifted her shirt up above her belly button and kissed her stomach. I stood back up and kissed her lips again.

"So what do we do now?" she asked.

"Well, I go to Iceland, and you stay here."

"But I don't want to be here alone." Evie looked devastated.

"I'm sure either Cam or Kylie will stay here with you."

She looked like she was about to cry. "But I don't want to be here without you."

"I don't want to go. But I have to. They need my help, and you know you can't come now. You need to stay here and take care of yourself, and the baby."

She nodded in agreement but tears fell from her face. "But how am I even going to be able to get in touch with you? Nate said no cell phones." She whined.

"I'll call you every day. I promise." I wiped the tears from her eyes. "Don't cry babe it's gonna be okay. I'll be back as soon as I can."

"Okay." She said wiping her face.

"Well come on, let's go tell the guys." I said. I grabbed her hand and we went downstairs.

Everyone was still in the kitchen, except for Jay and Cam. I'm guessing they were still in the backyard. I was only upstairs for a few minutes.

"Evie's not coming." I announced.

"Uh…. Ok…" Nate said confused. Everyone looked confused.

"It's not that I'm wimping out guys…" she said.

"She's pregnant." I said.

Everyone's eyes widened in shock except for Kylie's. She was at Evie's side while it processed I everyone else's minds.

"We're going to be pregnant together." Kylie said excitedly.

"Two pregnant chicks at one time? Now I'm really glad we're leaving. Maybe we should extend this trip." Vince said laughing.

If looks could kill, Vince would have been dead from the nasty look Kylie was throwing him.

"I'm just kidding! We'll be back as soon as we possibly can. Congrats sis." He said excitedly as he gave Evie a huge bear hug.

"Ow, Vince. Hugging… Too… hard…" Evie grunted.

"Yeah Vince be careful, you might squeeze the baby out of her." Tyler joked.

Vince mumbled sorry as he let go. Everyone came over to us one by one to congratulate us.

"I'm really sorry guys." Evie said as she lowered her head.

I pulled her next to me and wrapped my arm around her.

"Don't be sorry. Just take care of yourself until we get back." Nate smiled. "We'll be fine."

"Just make sure you take care of him." Evie said as she nodded her head in my direction.

"We will." Nate said.

"Dom and I will stay here with you." Kylie offered.

"You don't have to do that…" Evie started.

"Nonsense. You're not staying here alone. Plus, we can make Dom wait on us hand and foot." Kylie said smiling.

Evie laughed. "Don't you think he'll mind spending all his time here?"

"No, Dom won't care." Kylie said confidently.

Just then the patio doors opened. Jay and Cam came in. They looked kind of surprised to see everyone awake and standing around the Island.

"Is it that time already?" Jay asked.

"Yeah." Tyler replied.

Nate started going over some details with Jay so I walked away from Evie and over to Cam.

"Can I ask you a favor?" I asked her.

"Yeah sure." She replied.

"Evie's staying behind… she's pregnant. Do you think you can stay here and keep an eye on her?" I asked quietly.

"Yeah of course. She's pregnant? Congrats!"

"Thanks. Just try and keep her occupied so she's not freaking out okay? She really needs to be as stress-free as possible."

"No problem." Cam said smiling widely. She yelled congratulations to Evie then looked back at me.

She looked a little overexcited. She had a huge grin on her face. There's no way it was because of our news.

"Wait… did he?" I asked.

"Yep." She said quickly. She turned to everyone else. "We have something we want to tell you guys." She said happily.

Jay grabbed her hand.

"Jay proposed." Cam said holding up her left hand. I saw the diamond sparkling off the light in the kitchen.

Everyone looked even more shocked then they did when Evie said she was pregnant.

"So you said no right?" Vince asked.

Jay shoved Vince as Vince just laughed hysterically. I couldn't help but laugh too. Evie excitedly ran over to Cam and hugged her.

"Congratulations!" Evie said.

"Thanks." Cam said back excitedly.

I went over to Jay. "See, I told you everything would be okay." I said quietly.

He leant over to whisper to me. "Well yeah, so far so good, but we still have to see what happens when she gets the power."

"What? I thought you got it charmed into the ring?" I was confused.

"Yeah, I got it charmed into the wedding ring, not the engagement ring." He said quietly.

"Ohhh. So you're going to wait until you're actually married before you give it to her?" I asked.

"Yeah." He replied.

"Well, when is that going to be?" I asked.

"I don't know, who knows how long we're going to be on this trip."

"I really don't think it's going to take as long as everyone's putting it off to be." I said.

"I hope you're right…" Jay was then cut off by Nate.

"As much as I know we all would love to stay, we really have to get going. We're going to be late."

"If it's a private jet, how are we going to be late?" Jay asked.

"Because Joe is coming too. He told me a certain time to be there, so we need to be there." Nate answered.

I turned to Evie. "Well I guess its time to say goodbye." I said quietly.

"It's not goodbye, its see you soon." She said.

"You're right. I'll see you soon babe. Please take care of yourself and our baby."

"Of course I will… Please take care of yourself." I saw tears form up in her eyes.

I wiped the tears from her face and kissed her cheek. "I will." I said. I leant down and kissed her stomach, then stood back up and kissed her on her lips.

I pulled back a little and both our breathing was heavy. I kissed her a few more times. I didn't want to stop. She knew as well as I did, that it was possible this could be our last time we were ever together. I pulled Evie into a hug.

I glanced over and Jay was sharing a similar moment with Cam. He was holding Cam's face in his hands and staring into her eyes. Cam wrapped her arms around his waist and he hugged her tightly. They both looked how I felt right now.

They didn't want to let go of each other. I didn't want to let go of Evie.

As much as we tried to tell each other everything was going to be fine, deep down we both knew there was a chance I wasn't coming back. Yeah me and my brothers were going to sneak up on them, but it didn't help that Blake had a lot of friends backing him up. I was so nervous going into this, but I couldn't let Evie know that. I had to try and to try and act as confident as I could. This was the one time I wished I was Jay, well wished I had his confidence. I didn't want her to be any more stressed then she already was.

Saying goodbye to Evie was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. As much as I wanted her to come, I knew she couldn't and shouldn't. It was too dangerous. And as much as I wanted to stay behind, I knew I couldn't. The numbers were definitely against us. My brothers would need all the help they could get. We had 9 of us going against an unknown amount of them. Blake just traveled with at least 10, so we knew it would be more then that.

It kind of seemed like a dumb idea to try and take all of them on, but we all knew that Tyler was going either way, so we had to help him. We would all do the same if it were our girls in trouble. Plus, we wanted Tess back too. She was a good person, we all really liked her, and she didn't deserve to be enslaved to Blake. She was a part of this family, and we would do anything to get her back.

I said goodbye to Cam, Kylie and Evie. It was a hard goodbye. I felt so guilty leaving them behind. They were the three most important women in my life and I felt like I was leaving them all alone. Yeah Dom would be with them, but still, I wasn't going to be here with them.

I really wished Dom was awake so I could talk to him before we left. Nate hurried us all out the door. I grabbed Evie again before I left.

"I love you babe, I'll be back as soon as I can." I said.

She wrapped her arms around me. "I love you too. I'll see you soon." She said hopefully.

"Yeah, I'll see you soon." I reassured her.

I gave her one last kiss before heading out the door.

When we got to the airport Joe was there to greet us.

"Boys, its so nice to see you!" he said cheerfully. He gave us all handshakes.

"So where's the wife?" he asked when he noticed Evie wasn't there.

"She had to stay behind." I said.

He looked at me quizzically.

"She's pregnant." Jay said.

"Oh wow. Congratulations. I'm surprised you're still here." Joe said.

It made me feel kind of guilty.

"I couldn't let them go without me." I said quietly.

"I understand." Joe said back. "I'm sure everything will be fine" he tried to reassure me.

"Yeah." I said wishing I believed that.

I took a look around the plane trying to get my mind off of it. Jay passed out the second the plane took off. Tyler looked extremely impatient, tapping his foot and looking all around. Everyone looked on edge.

When the plane landed Joe started walking off towards a parked car. He leant in the window, grabbed something from the driver. He walked back to Nate and handed him an envelope.

"See you later." Joe said as he walked back to the parked car and got in.

"What was all that about?" I asked suspiciously.

Nate held up the envelope. "Keys for the cottage were going to be staying in."

"Where's he going?" I asked.

"He's got some meeting here." Nate answered.

"In Iceland?" I asked. I didn't believe it.

"Yeah he's going to try and open up a restaurant here."

"You told him what we came here for right?" I asked.

"Yeah. You know I told him all about it." Nate said.

"And you don't find that weird that he wanted to come?" As generous as Joe was, we really didn't know him that well, or at least I didn't. And we had been tricked way too many times by people that got close to us.

"No Cayden, I don't think its weird. He had this planned since back when I was with him in New York. When I realized we were coming here, I told him and he moved up his business meeting so he could go with us and make sure everything was okay. So calm down, there's no conspiracy here. Plus me and Tyler knew Joe before Tess and them came around anyway."

"True." I agreed. I breathed a little sigh of relief.

I couldn't help it I was extremely paranoid.

"So where to?" I asked.

"Well the cottage is in Selfoss which is about 40 minutes from where we are here in Reykjavik. Remember: Hoods up, heads down, and cash only anywhere you go." Nate reminded us.

Two vans pulled up for us. We piled in as they drove us to the house. It would have been faster to run, but we had all this luggage with us. We got to the cottage and it was pretty small. The cottage was off in the cut by itself. Which I was grateful for. Thankfully it was furnished. There were two large couches in the living room, taking up most of the room. In front of them was a decent sized TV. We all put our suitcases down.

"How the hell are all nine of us going to fit in this small ass house?" Jay asked.

"Well, there are 2 bedrooms, so the boys in one room and the girls in the other." Nate said.

I could already tell this was going to be bad. We were all going to be cooped up in this little cottage together, no doubt getting on one another's nerves.

"So where does Blake live?" I asked.

Aria spoke up. "Blake lives in Laugarvatn. It's about 20 miles from here so it's not far for us to run back and forth to. Laugarvatn is small though. The population is only about 200 people, all of which are just like us."

"All 200 people have the same power as us?" Vince asked.

"Yeah." Aria answered.

"Great… we're screwed." Vince said throwing his hands up in the air.

"Not necessarily. Most of the people there hate Blake. They live in fear of him, and keep their distance when possible. He doesn't bother them unless he needs them for something. The only thing we'll have to worry about is Blake's little group of friends. They will put up a fight. But once we kill him, most of them may back off. Even a lot of the people in his little crew are only there because they're afraid of him." Aria said.

"And what if they don't back off?" I asked.

"Then we'll have to kill them too." She said calmly.

"And how many people are in his 'little crew'?" I asked.

"About 20, 25." She said rather quietly.

"25?" My jaw about hit the ground. "We might as well just kill ourselves now and get it over with!"

"Calm down." Nate said.

"You want me to calm down? There are 9 of us against 25 of them! I have a pregnant wife counting on me to come back alive!" I yelled.

"No one made you come." Tyler said angrily as he got in my face.

Nate quickly got in-between us. "Stop it! Cayden you knew what you were getting yourself into."

"Yeah, I thought it would be like 10, 15 people. MAYBE 20…Not 25! How the HELL is there even a possibility that we'd come out of this alive?"

"We all knew the risk when we agreed to come. I should have told you how many we were up against but I figured it didn't matter. If you don't want to stay, just go back home." Nate said.

I was pissed. Without another word I took off out the door.

"Cayden!" I heard Nate yell, but I didn't stop.

I don't know why I flipped out the way I did. I knew before I left that we would be going up against a lot of them, so why was I throwing a fit about twenty-five people? I guess the realization hit me when we actually got there. Before when we were back home, it was all talk. Yeah I'll go, Yeah we'll just sneak up on them and kill them all. We'll figure out their schedules, wait till they're alone, and get them one by one. Easy enough. And now I was starting to realize that it was going to be way more difficult then that. In no way shape or form was this going to be easy.

I just kept thinking about Evie. What if something happened to us out here? I would never see our kid, and she would be left raising the kid herself. I couldn't tell if I was being selfish for wanting to leave here or not. Was I selfish for not wanting my kid to grow up without a dad? Leaving now meant leaving my brothers here to deal with this without me. What if they died out here? What if they just needed that little bit of extra help that I could have given, but since I left they died because of me?

I could just stay and pray that everything worked out, but right now that just seemed like a delusional thought.

So much was running through my head. I didn't know what to do. I just kept running back the way we had just come.
