Author's Note: This is a poem about war, told from the point-of-view of a man in the Army who is standing on the front line.

Standing On the Front Line:

War was just a game,

At least when we were kids,

But truthfully,

It's just an ugly reality.

Standing on the front line,

Hearing the desperate cries,

Of my brothers as they die,

Standing on the front line.

The barked orders of my sisters,

As they attempt to save the wounded,

But no matter how hard they try,

The innocent still die,

Standing on the front line.

Standing on the front line,

Bullets fly,

Desperate cries,

Angry words,

Burning hurt,

Standing on the front line.

Standing on the front line,

People dying,

Bullets flying,

The possibility that I could be next,

Chills me to the bones,

As I stand,

On the front line.
