I sigh to myself as I wince slightly as I gently move my foot. Probably broken. I sigh again, then look up when I see a pair of skates stop in front of me. I slowly look up and I feel my eyes practically bug out of my head. The hottest guy I've ever seen with shaggy brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes is standing in front of me.
"Yo, you okay?"
The guy asks kneeling down in front of me.
"I-I'm not sure."
I stutter.
He smiles, slightly and asks,
"How are you not sure?"
"I-I think I may have broken my ankle or at the very least sprained it!"
My voice goes up an octave when I say 'sprained' because the boy decided without asking me he was going to gently move my foot.
"Sorry,"
The boy gives me an apologetic grin,
"I'll have to have you move somewhere I can see your ankle better."
I grimace, but start to stand. I almost fall down again, but the boy quickly grabs me around the waist, then helps me out of the rink and over to a nearby bench. I let out a hissing breath as I slowly remove my skates. After both are off the boy hands me a bottle of frozen water although, I hadn't realized he'd left.
"Thanks."
I say taking the bottle in one hand and trying to pull my sock down to peer at my ankle with the other.
The boy pushes my hand away and pulls my sock down himself. I think we both flinch at the swelling or maybe it's just me. I sigh (again), but press the water bottle to my ankle wincing as I do. It's then that a love song comes on over the speakers; because of course it just wasn't embarrassing enough. I blush and quickly look out at the couples now skating around on the rink. There's not one skater out there that isn't holding hands with another one because, no one would be caught dead skating alone in the middle of a love song, surrounded by couples, slowly skating around the rink, trying to sneak a few kisses in. I glance up and I'm surprised to find that the boy's not standing in front of me anymore; instead he's sitting beside me. Why is he still here? Surely he's here with a girl, I mean he's really cute, and he seems sweet… I stare at him, then quickly look away when he glances over at me.
"U-um…"
I manage to stutter out,
"Are you here with someone?"
I nod my head in the skating couples' direction, while feeling my face heat up again.
He shakes his head while flashing me a bright, white smile that could be in one of those toothpaste or whitening strips commercials.
"Nah, I'm here alone."
He looks away and I'm not sure, but maybe he's blushing, although, it's probably just the lighting making me see things.
"Oh…,"
I mutter, then realize I don't know his name,
"What's your name?"
I ask shyly looking up at him.
He smirks playfully at me, then says,
"That's classified."
Feeling suddenly playful myself, I reply,
"I bet I can guess it."
"Oh really? What would you like to bet?"
"If I win…you'll help me to my ride when it gets here."
"Okay, and if I win…you have to go on a date with me."
I blush and my eyes widen, but before I can say anything he continues,
"You have three guesses. Go."
Getting caught up in the game like I always do I start firing names.
"Hunter, Skyler…Mark."
"Ahhngkk! Oh I'm sorry, but you're wrong! The correct answer is Aaron, but don't worry! You still get a fabulous prize for playing! I'll help you to your car!"
He laughs and I can't help, but join in. I have a feeling I won't mind losing the bet.
