Heartbroken
Chapter 2
Vira opens her eyes, the blurred images around her slowly forming into solid shapes. She finds herself in a living room, on a couch. Above her stand two men, both pale brunettes. One has full, pink lips, a small nose, and bright green eyes. He has long eyelashes and soft, feminine features. He's also tall and thin. The other has bright blue eyes. His features are more masculine, a squared-off jaw and broad shoulders. He's lean, not thin, but he is also tall. His lips are thin and pale. They both stare down at her, the feminine one with his hand in hers. She pulls her fingers from his, disappointment still gripping her. Suddenly, they whip two pistols out from the leather belts around their waists. Sluggishly, she feels for her sai swords. Her belt is gone, they must've taken it. She lays there in defeat, apathetic to her seemingly impending doom.
"She's just... laying there." The feminine one says in a light voice. The masculine one leans in close, inspecting her.
"Please, just do it." She says monotonously. The two look to each other, then look to her.
"Are you Vira?" Masculine asks, holding his pistol more firmly. She gives him a look of curiosity,
"Um... yes. How did you know that?"
"Ryan gave us a call." Feminine cuts in, "He told us to keep an eye out for you." She smiles at the thought of Ryan still trying to take care of her, though she's moved on.
"How do you know Ryan?" She inquires,
"We're what you might call affiliates of Ryan and Knithe's vampire-hunting team." Masculine informs,
"So, I'm guessing he told you what happened." She looks away from the barrels of their guns, hoping that one might pull their trigger.
"Yes." Feminine sits his gun back in its holster. "Listen, I'm terribly sorry about your loss. However, in his honor, we're to protect you."
"I don't need protection."
"Well, too damn bad." Masculine frowns, slowly pulling his gun away from her but not putting it away. "We swore to Ryan that we'd protect you so that's what we're going to do." Vira sighs exasperatedly.
"I'm Jeremy." Feminine grins, getting on his knees and holding out a hand. She still looks away, ignoring it. "Um... And this is Andrew." He gestures to Masculine. She just lays there pathetically. "Are you al..."
"Who attacked you?" Andrew interrupts,
"If I tell you, will you go away?" She closes her eyes,
"No." He states abruptly,
"His name is Toke." She says, rising. "Now, goodbye."
"You can't leave!" Jeremy lays a hand on her shoulder,
"You have no permission to touch me!" She hisses,
"Sorry! Sorry." He fumbles and for a second, it's not Jeremy. Knithe stands there, still so nervous, trying to confess his feelings to her. Vira's heart warms at the glance of Knithe's beautiful eyes. Her heart reaches out to him. She grins, tears sliding down her cheeks. She wraps her arms around him. as he enfolds her in his embrace.
"Uh... Vira?" That's not Knithe's voice. She looks to the man in her arms, with his frail frame and brown hair... This isn't Knithe.
"Sorry Jeremy." She wipes at her tears as she pulls from him. "I... I'm just not feeling all myself."
"Maybe you should lie down. You can have my bedroom, I'll sleep on the couch."
"No, no. I'll just get out of your way." She heads for the door,
"Hey!" Andrew calls, she turns to see his gun pointed to her. "I told you, we swore to Ryan that we'd protect you. Honestly, I don't give a damn whether you live or die, but I will not let Ryan down."
"What, you're gonna shoot me?" Vira asks, her eyes narrowing. She steps toward him slowly, "Go ahead." She grabs the barrel of his gun, pressing it into her chest. "Do it. Come on, pull the trigger." Andrew's firm expression softens, lowering his gun. "I thought so. Jeremy, if you wouldn't mind giving me my belt please?"
"I'm sorry Vira." He shakes his head, "I can't do that. I can't let you leave." She looks intensely between the two boys. They stand firm, determined looks on their faces. "Fine, I'll stay." She rolls her eyes.
"Great!" Jeremy grins, "Come with me, I'll show you your room." He steps down a dark hallway, Vira following. He leads her through the last door on the right into his bedroom. "Your belt is on my dresser over there. The bathroom's right across the hall. Andrew's in the room next to this one and I'll be on the living room couch if you need me." He waves, "You've had a long day, I'll leave you to lie down. Andrew and I will be asleep, but don't be afraid to wake me if you need anything."
"Thanks." Vira grumbles, throwing herself on the bed. Jeremy looks down in discontent. If only he could do more for his new guest. He closes the door behind him, leaving her alone. She stares at the door where he stood, "You'll be asleep, you say?" She grabs her belt from Jeremy's dresser. Stupid humans.
Jeremy opens his eyes to see Vira standing over him. Her crimson eyes glow beautifully.
"Yes?" He inquires,
"I'm sorry for waking you, Jeremy." A slight tinge of guilt crosses her features, "It's just that... I'm frightened sleeping in that big, dark room all by myself."
"How can I help?"
"Well, you see, I was kinda hopin'..." She twirls her hair in her fingers, leaning in close. "That you'd come in there and lay with me." Her warm breath tingles his ear.
"A-Anything for you." He lifts from the couch. She grasps his hand, tugging him along behind her. He watches her hips as they swing, her bottom rounded to perfection. A hunger grows deep within his loin. His mouth waters as she guides him into the bedroom. She pulls him around, shoving him onto the bed. She jumps on top of him, rubbing on his chest.
"Oh, I see you have a little present for me." She grins, sliding off of him. His pants loosen and fall. Jeremy grips the bed, readying himself. Yet, nothing comes. Click-click-click he hears, seeing Vira at the door, creeping away...
