Tanner's point of view:

I woke up this morning with the sound of my mom's muffled voice against my door.

"Tanner! You have school! And you have to drive Liz to her school, remember?"

The mention of Liz got me to jump out of bed immediately and ran around the house for clothes, food, and my keys that seems to get lost at the time of most need for it.

Soon I was ready to go and headed to my car.

I saw a very familiar blob of plaid running towards me.

"Tanner!" Liz shouted jumping into my arms.

"Liz!" I returned her hug and let her wrap her legs around my waist.

"I missed you Tanner!" She said against my neck.

"You have been gone for quite a while Liz." I mumbled in her hair. I smelt her sweet marshmallow smell kissed her forehead.

"I know. A year. But at least I'm better now." Liz smiled getting down to the asphalt.

I smiled too, "That's good." I pulled her into another hug, "Don't ever scare me like that ever again. Ever, Liz."

"Look!" She showed me her fingernails…which were…pink.

I smiled widely and hugged her tighter. As an exchange, I heard a sniff against my chest and chuckled at her obviousness.

"Liz don't smell me." I muttered, eyes close enjoying her in my arms.

Liz laughed out loud. Her eyes closed as she did so.

I have always like that about Liz, I think she looks adorable when she does that.

"Come on. I'm going to be late for my first day back to my school." Liz said pushing me into my car.

"Sucks we don't go to the same school." I pouted when she was in the passenger seat.

"Yeah but I like my school." She said, excitement clear in her voice.

One of the reasons why she doesn't go to my school is because of her health problems.

All her life, Liz has been living off donated hearts. Just last year, the heart that she had failed on her. From then she'd been plugged into a machine, a machine that worked as her heart. I didn't like it.

At all.

It made her look sicker than she originally was, it made her sad, it made her fingernails blue, it made me not to go see her.

Our moms and dads were the best of friends back in the day, years and years before the heart failure, Liz had lived right across the street from us, but since that day, her parents found a new house much closer to the hospital she was put in. Which was all the way in Europe.

So I was left here in the States, all alone and worried sick about Liz every single day. Though I never told my other friends about her, I didn't want them to pity her or me. That was the last thing I want to happen. If Liz and I are going to go through this, we'll do it together; no one else is needed if we have each other.

"Tanner?" I heard Liz's soft voice.

"Yes Liz?"

"I missed you."

Sid's point of view:

"Sid! She's alive! She's alive! Sid!" I heard Liam's screaming and coming right at me from the borders of the field.

Liam jumped on me and laughed manically. I just looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"Who's alive?" I asked.

"Ellie! She's alive!" Liam gave me one of him bone-crushing cuddles and picked me up. "She's alive Sid! You know what this means?" he squealed.

"No I don't." I shook my head brushing invisible dirt from my shirt.

"Sid, she's alive! I can finally tell her how much I love her!" Liam, again, picked me up and twirled me around.

"That's great Liam! I'm really happy for you." I whispered the last part.

I mean I have been in love with Liam since we were little munchkins! I have always wished that he would notice me and finally notice all my hints. But sadly, Liam is much too oblivious to see all the things that I have done for him. He thinks everything was just because I'm his best friend, which I am, and I feel obligated to do those lovey-dovey things.

Just last year he said that he met a girl. He said that she was sick and felt that she might not live for long. I have been there with him while he moped around when he found out her family was moving away because of her death. He said something about him almost falling in love with the girl. Liam also said that the girl's sickness was with her heart. Through the time he was depressed I was with him all through it. I never left his side. Even if nature desperately called. I care about Liam so much I would give my own heart to that girl so they could be together.

"Have I ever told you that Ellie paints?"

I paint too! Ish. I shook my head. "Well she does and I've seen some of her paintings and they're amazing. The paintings aren't just like those paintings that look like you just took a picture of it, her paintings look real. Like they move. If she drew a sea, you could almost see the waves crashing against each other. If she drew a butterfly or a bird you can see it glide through the air. Heck, if she painted Marilyn Monroe you would see her skirt fly up." Liam explained with that far away look.

"That sounds wonderful Liam." I whispered trying so hard to keep the tears from seeping out of my eyes.

I want to be Ellie. I wanted to be her so badly.

So badly.

"I want you to meet her Sid. I want you to see how beautiful she is." Liam whispered in my hair.

I slipped away from his arms and smiled the best I could, "I would love to Liam."

Scott's point of view:

"Mother fucker. You can die in a fucking hole." Fiona shouted at me.

"What? What did I do?" I asked backing away from her.

"You stood me up! On our anniversary too, you bastard!" Fiona pushed me and I fell to the ground.

"Tins I stood you up! You were the one with that Tan dude!" I shouted from the floor.

"It's Tanner! And he's my best friend so I don't know why you have to be so jealous of him!" I flailed my hands around making me look like a retarded loony.

"Fiona!" Oh my, speak of the devil and the devil shall appear.

"There he is, why don't you go and cuddle with him like I saw you two doing when I came in your house." I sneered.

It was our anniversary and Fiona was supposed to meet me at the parking lot after school, but she never showed up. Instead I saw her walk out of the school with the Tanner guy and go in his car.

I mean how was that supposed to make me feel!

So I followed them to Fiona's house and they started talking, though I didn't hear what they were saying, I was pretty good at lip-reading.

Kind of.

All I got was an 'I love you' and 'I'll be there for you' or is it 'I'll be quiet about it' but it doesn't matter it means practically the same thing.

"We were hugging! And I wouldn't have been there if you would have been where you said you were going to be! But no. You were with Sydney and the cheerleaders! You were practically surrounding yourself with them and you didn't even notice when I called your name!" Fiona shouted at me.

"Oh well I sorry that you were fashionably late. I'm sorry you're fashionably late all the fucking time." I countered standing up.

"So this is all my fault now isn't it? 'Cause you're always right—."

"Guys?" Tanner cut in.

"Damn hell am I right. I may not always be always right. Not everyone's perfect Fiona! I can't be the perfect prince charming for your perfectly planned life! I can't be your fucking dog—."

"Guys?" Tanner again cut in.

"Can you at least make an effort of making me happy for once?"

"It's always me that makes the mistakes! Whatever happened to making me happy? Whatever happened to you making at least some efforts to making me happy for once!"

"GUYS!" Tanner shouted.

"What?" Fiona and I both snapped.

"Liz is back." Tanner whispered.

"Liz is back? Elizabeth?" Fiona asked.

"Don't joke about that, you bastard." I grumbled.

Fiona slapped my arm, "Stop it, Scott." she hissed.

I rolled my eyes and rubbed the spot where she hit me. Though it didn't hurt physically, it hurt my feelings that she would protect Tanner against me, her fucking boyfriend.

"I'm not joking. She's really—."

"Fionaaaaaaaa! Scottyyyyyyy!" Fiona and I turned around at the sound and found a girl in a plaid skirt, dark brown hair, and wide smile.

"Liz! You're back!" Fiona cried jumping on Liz.

"Hey Liz." I simply just waved.

"Fiona I missed you so much!" Liz exclaimed.

"Me too Liz! Me too!" Fiona now had tears in her eyes. "Your nails!"

"I know! They're pink." Liz's eyes got a bit glassy.

"Hey hey hey, no crying." Tanner warned taking Liz into his arms.

"Okay." I heard Liz whisper and I smiled at their obliviousness.

Michael's point of view:

"We've been practicing for hours Seb! I can't take this anymore!" I complained.

"One more song and then we're done." Seb assured. The band got ready to prep up a song and readied ourselves for the noise.

Scotty doesn't know that Fiona and me
Do it in my van every Sunday.

He doesn't know that his girl hangs out with me all the time.

She tells him she's in church but she doesn't go
Still she's on her knees and Scotty doesn't know!

I looked to my left to glance at my band as I sing. I grinned at the lyrics and the inside joke we all made.

Oh Scotty doesn't know!
So Don't Tell Scotty!
Scotty doesn't know!
Scotty doesn't know!
So Don't Tell Sco—.

"Come on!" Daniel, the drummer groaned throwing one of his drumsticks at my head.

"Hey! Watch it!" I warned as I took my phone out of my pocket.

"You have to turn that off whenever we practice."

"Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear." I chuckled. "Hey babe." I said into the phone.

"Hey Michael. Whatcha doing?" Fiona asked.

"Nothing important." The band groaned behind me. "Actually I'm with my band right now Fiona. Can I call you back?" I asked.

"Yeah sure, whatever. I'll wait for that call baby." She purred and hanged up.

The band that I was in on was called, Dead Destiny, and had Daniel, the crazy drummer; Alex, the laid-back bass player; Sebastian, the sadistic pianist; and me, Mickey Troy, the player lead guitarist and singer.

"Want to start over?" Sebastian asked.

"Uh no way, man. I'm beat." Alex said, flopping down on a couch and sniffed the air. "Daniel your basement smells horrible."

Daniel just shrugged and created a beat on his drums.

"When are you going to tell her you're just playing her?" Seb laughed out taking a drumstick from his pants.

"Yeah. You're getting too attached here." Alexander commented.

"I know I know, you don't have to constantly tell me." I sighed and strummed a note on my guitar.

Little did Fiona know she was merely just a toy to me.

Just a toy.

Just like what I was to Beth.

A toy.

Daniel's point of view:

"Daniel! Someone's here for you!" My twin sister, Cameron shouted from upstairs.

"Take them down here!" I shouted back.

"Uh no thank you! Get your ass up here!"

I groaned and heard Sebastian said, "Your sister's hot." I spun around and pointed a finger at him, "You did not just say that."

Sebastian put his hands up in surrender and laughed, "Just messin' with ya."

I shook my head and went upstairs to meet the lazy guest.

"Who the fuck would want to—Sydney?" I looked at her shattered face and quickly went up to her.

"Hey, why the long face?" I asked her as I circled my arms around her tiny waist.

"William." She sobbed on my shirt.

"Ohhh." I breathed, I took her chin and wiped away the tear that was trailing down her cheek.

"Sydney he's not worth it." I told her.

"You don'T understand Daniel! He's everything to me!" Her blonde hair was darker because it was wet.

"Why are you wet Sydney?" I asked grabbing a handful of her hair and whisked it over her shoulder.

"It's raining outside."

"Tell me you didn't…" as I looked at the window, yup it was raining. Sydney laughed humourlessly. "Idiot. You don't just run out in the rain. You could have just took your car."

I kissed her forehead, my lips lingering longer than necessary.

Sydney sniffed and buried her face on the crook of my neck. I gasped at the contact but let her anyways.

"Thank you Daniel." She whispered.

"You're wel—."

I was cut off with, "Sid and Daniel sitting in a tree, k-I-s-s-I-n-g! first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby—."

"Shut up Alex, just because you're jealous doesn't mean you have to taunt us with it." I glared at him.

I saw Alex roll his eyes and Sydney giggle.

"Stop crying. Do you want to hear us play?" I asked softly, she looked so fragile and breakable right now.

I looked into her grey, glassy eyes, pleading her to stay.

Sydney nodded and took my hand in hers.

Where it felt perfect.

Where it felt like it belonged.

The song that Dead Destiny played was 'Scotty Doesn't Know' by Lustra, I don't own it. This song might be the base of the story. Review please!
