Narcissus Heart

Chapter 1

"Attempt not hopeless suitor, for I do not fall for your romanticism." Says a boy, seemingly eighteen, with soft, long, blonde locks of hair sprouting from his head and stopping at his chin. His fair skin catches the light quite beautifully, he seems to glow as Helios, God of the Sun. He has soft, pink, full lips, such a gorgeous mouth on a man was unheard of. He has blue eyes that could only be compared to the Oceanus between long, black eyelashes. "'Tis my own company that I enjoy." He holds his hand up to a kneeling woman,

"But, fair Narcissus..." The maiden protests. She has long, soft, light-brown hair that falls to her waist. She, too has fair skin, but it doesn't catch the sun as his does. Her lips are a wine red, thin in a pretty way. She kneels before him desperately, in a trance from his beauty.

"Begone, I wish to travel to the woods..." He removes his hand and stares down at her sternly, "... Alone." He leaves her there, fallen forward in failure.

Narcissus approaches his chesnut-colored steed, it's long mane is a marvelous snow-white, it's coal-black eyes stares at him. It whinnies and rears back, digging it's night-black hooves into the ground. "Easy Ratia." He pats the horse's neck, "It's only me girl." He mounts her. Narcissus glances around to familiarize himself with his surroundings. He lifts his heels from the beast, then kicks at it's sides, "Hya!" He orders, the creature charges forward and they disappear into the brush.

Narcissus stops his horse mid-forest. He inhales deeply, taking in the scents of the woods, a soft pine, the smell of the grass, so hypnotizing. The sun shines through the leaves of the trees, spotting his shadowed hair with dots of light. He hears the birds twittering above him, he turns his eyes upward to see the feathered creatures. The birds flutter around each other. Such an attractive scene, the woodland creatures in love. His horse grunts and turns her head to stare pitifully at him. "Do you thirst, my mare?" Narcissus cooes to her, she whinnies in agreement. "Then onward!" Ratia trots forth.

As the two clear through the brush, they feel a breeze and a slight mist. The sound of rushing water fills the air, similar to a waterfall. Forward, through the trees, the waterfall can be seen. Sparkling blue waters pour into a pond below. The falling water foams where it hits the pool, causing waves that the sun can glint it's shine from blindingly.

Ratia stops abruptly, the tired man riding on her back awakes immediately in case of danger. Instead of threat, he spies a young woman; she looks to be about sixteen. She has beautiful dirty-blonde hair that falls just below her bosom. Her figure shapes as an hourglass, curves of Aphrodite, Goddess of Beauty. Her skin is fair, so much so that his cannot compare. Her face shapes as a heart, symbol of love. Her lips are even fuller, softer than his own. Her cheeks color rosy, completing her skin's beauty. Her eyes shine a dark-green so lovely, Iris, Goddess of Rainbow must have chosen the color herself for that woman only. Her eyelashes are just as long as his, just as entrancing. She's mounted atop a beautiful mare, white as winter with coal-black eyes and hooves; it laps at the pond before it. A strange feeling arises in his chest, a wave of lust surges through him. This is odd to him. He's never felt that way for anyone but himself.

Narcissus approaches with caution so as not to fall for any trickery. The girl snaps her head towards them, staring at them for a moment or two. Once she has their images captured in her mind, she returns to watching her horse drink. He continues to move forward, approaching the pond. His mare dips her head down to join the other beast in drinking. Narcissus clears his throat, "Hello." He greets, looking over to her.

"Hello." She returns, not taking her eyes from her horse.

"Tell me, are you through these woods often?"

"Yes, I live here." She appears not to care that he even exists.

"Ah, what a wonder it would be to live in a beautiful location such as this." Narcissus sighs, "Maiden, I ponder, do you have a name?"

"I am known to be called many names," She finally lifts her sight to him, "But you may call me Nisi." Her eyes seem to carry joyful sorrow, peaceful anarchy, restless slumber. An unsettling feeling washes over him.

"Nisi, you know, it is not safe to wander this forest alone." He glances around at the trees, "Not a beautiful woman such as you, anyway."

"I can care for myself." She looks away from him.

"I apologize if I've offended you fair maiden, but to your beauty, even the great Oceanus pales in comparison."

"Silly boy, your effort to capture me will not prevail." Her horse pulls it's head from the water and whinnies as if giggling along,

"Say that now miss ," He steers his horse to inch closer to hers, "But in a few sunsets you will beg me to lay in your bed." He grins with a cocky disposition,

"Your arrogance only pushes that farther from the truth." She turns, "Hya Eidyllio!" She orders; her horse rears, turning and trotting into the forest. They disappear into the darkness. Narcissus sighs,

"I've experienced an emotion queer to me, my dear Ratia." He only stares at the spot where the girl made her exit, "I think it is love." He pulls at Ratia's reigns, making her turn to the direction they entered from, "Forward!"
