"I'm pregnant." The first thing that came to my mind as soon as my sister uttered those words was that's no shock. While my mom started to hyperventilate and my step dad's face turned red with anger, all I could think about was she got what she deserved. You probably think I'm some horrible, spiteful sister. Well, some of that may be true, but I'm nothing compared to my sister. The reason why I said she got what she deserved was because my sister is our school's slut.

No seriously, she really is a huge slut. She's probably slept with basically every guy in her year and probably my year as well. The funny thing is my step dad and mom haven't got a clue that there daughter is out having sex practically every night. Her excuse is, she's staying over at her best friend's house. You would think that any parent can't see right through her lies but not my mom and stepdad. My parents keep fighting with Sadie but they just think she's going through a phase and she'll soon be back to normal and go to Harvard University (fat chance).

My pregnant sister, Sadie, was already in tears as my step father's yelling began. I didn't feel any sympathy towards her, she was whore and a bitch and everyone knew it. Even my five year old brother knew it. I was currently debating whether I should go and join my brother and watch my all time favourite show, "Scooby Doo," or stay in this hell hole. Well I knew what I'd prefer, but being the kind loving sister I was, I decided to stay. Besides there was still one thing we didn't know...

I slumped down on the sofa, next to my mom who looked like she was going to faint any second. I peered at my step father, who had stopped yelling and was pacing around the room muttering furiously to himself. I made eye contact with Sadie.

"So… who's the father?" The room silenced at my simple question. As if right on cue, the door bell rang. I realised no one was showing any signs of moving so I got up and walked to the door.

I opened the door and came face to face with a good looking boy who looked slightly bored and was carrying a skateboard in his hand. He had the rugged look with his wild dark hair and strongly chiselled features.

"Hey, I'm River," he said in a causal voice. "I'm looking for-"

"Sadie," I finished for him. He gave me an odd look and nodded. He smiled at me but I wasn't in the mood to smile back.

I liked his eyes. They were icy blue, more interesting than my own pale gray eyes. I noticed that he was quite skinny because of his height and he had numerous piercings and tattoos.

"Is she in?" he asked, peering behind me. He wasn't usually Sadie's type as she usually went for the jocks rather that the skater guys. Then again Sadie probably slept with anything with a dick.

"She's in," I said simply, not making any sign that he could come in. I crossed my arms and continued to stare straight at him with a blank look. I could tell that he was starting to get annoyed.

"Well… can I come in?" At that moment my stepdad, Carl started yelling again "Who's the fucking asshole that got you pregnant?" I watched as River's face paled and his blue eyes widened.

"Well… that depends," I started. He looked really nervous and freaked out. "Are you the daddy?" His eyes shot up and looked at me in shock.

"Fuck…" I take that as a yes.

This time I was in the mood for smiling. I turned and started walking off. When I heard no footsteps behind me, I turned and saw that he was frozen in the same spot. "Well come on in then." I motioned for him to follow me.

Everyone was too involved in arguing that no one noticed us enter.

"Look guys, the baby daddy's here," I announced to everyone. Silence filled the room and I looked over at River. Poor guy looked scared shit of Carl.

"You little fucker," Carl suddenly burst out. "How dare you touch my little girl," he hollered stomping towards River with a fist in the air. I heard Sadie scream but Carl made no attempt to stop so I went in and saved the day. I stepped in front of River before Carl could grab him.

"Carl, just hold on a minute," I reasoned. "Firstly your girl certainly isn't little anymore. If you think River is the first guy that touched your precious little daughter than you're wrong because news flash, you're daughters a whore."

"You little bitch," Sadie snapped. I flashed her fake smile and she glared at me.

"Truth hurts," I replied. It looked as though Carl had slightly calmed down and didn't look like he wanted to rip off River's head. "The fact is, Sadie was bound to get pregnant one of these days and that day is today," I stated the truth. "So why don't you all sit down and deal with it like mature adults," I finished proudly. I was basically the most mature one in the room. "Now if you'll excuse me I have episodes of Scooby Doo to catch up on." Oh yea, real mature.

I turned round and walked past River and out the door, but not before he whispered, "I owe you one Rory." I wondered how he knew my name; maybe Sadie told him.

After an hour of watching Ben 10 and listening to Carl and my mom yelling, I finally decided to get out of this place. I ran upstairs and chucked on a band t-shirt and a pair of ripped denim shorts. I tugged off my hair tie and let my long, wild curls fall down my back. It was funny how I didn't look like part of this family. Hell, I didn't even feel like part of this family. Everybody was too focused on Sadie to notice me. Carl didn't even have a reason to care as we weren't related.

Long story short, my mom had an affair with some random dude who I've never met and then had me. Carl was never a dad to me even though he was there since I was born. I was just the constant reminder of my mom's secret affair. I got all my appearances from my unknown dad according to my mom. Sadie and my mom both had tanned skin and straight light brown hair. I on the other hand had pale skin and black hair.

I slipped on my black Doc Martins and grabbed my guitar from the side of my room. Once I got downstairs I peered into the living room and saw Carl and my mom in deep conversation with Sadie. I felt a pair of blue eyes on me. I glanced at Damien who had a small smile on his face and was staring intently at me. I returned his smile and left the house in a hurry.

I knocked on my best friend Sam's front door after walking for about a minute. This was the place I escaped to most of the time. It was practically a second home as I stayed over at my best friend's house more often then I stayed at my own house. The funny thing was my mom didn't even notice I was gone most of the time. She was too busy at work or taking care of Sadie.

"Hey Rory," I smiled up at Sam's older brother, Braxton. "Trouble at home?" he said simply. I nodded and hugged him tightly as he pulled me into him. Mine and Braxton's relationship was odd. He was one of my closest friends and I loved him but we didn't really mix at school. In away he was kind of like an older brother to me.

"Is Sam in his room?" I said pulling away from him. He nodded and I retreated up the stairs. Before I could even open door, Sam burst out of him room.

"RORY!" he yelled in excitement. He attacked me with a hug and started to jump up and down trying to get me to jump too.

"Sam…" I started, staring at him oddly. "Are you high?" I heard a chuckle from behind us.

"Like my brother would ever do drugs, he still sleeps with Mr Rabbit," I laughed and Sam glared at Braxton. He was referring to Sam's stuffed rabbit on his bed. "Our Sammy got asked out by the hunky dude next door. Sam's words not mine." I turned around in confusion.

"What hunky dude?" Braxton smiled at me and proceeded to his room. He had a habit of suddenly popping up from nowhere and then leaving. "Sam! How come you never told me about this guy? I thought you told me everything," I said in fake sadness.

"He's my true love, the sun that brightens my day, the moon that… brightens my night… or not. He's my soul mate," He said dreamily, completely ignoring my previous comment.

"Dude… how long have you known 'hunky dude'?"

"He moved in this morning."

"What did he say to you?"

"I haven't heard his beautiful voice yet?"

"What's his name?" Sam's dreamy expression dropped.

"Err… hunky dude." I raised my eyebrow, thinking how this was so typical of Sam. Whenever he meets someone, he thinks they're 'the one.' Instead of giving Sam a familiar lecture.

"Wait… Brax said hunky dude asked you out?" I said in confusion.

"In my dreams he did." I rolled my eyes and entered Sam's room. I jumped on the bed and snuggled up into his comfy pillow. I felt the bed sink and turned my head to face him.

"So, you staying here then?" Sam asked and I simply nodded and shut my eyes. "What did Sadie do this time?" I usually escaped here when Sadie and my parents were having another fight.

"She got pregnant," I mumbled, not bothering to open my eyes. I imagined Sam had a shocked face around about now. I heard a gasp.

"SADIE'S PREGNANT!" he shouted, shaking me so I "When? Who? How?" I heard loud breathing coming from Sam.

"Brax!" I shouted as Braxton was only in the other room. "I heard footsteps and then Brax stood at the door with an amused look on his face. "Sam's hyperventilating again."

"I'll get the bag," Brax said, leaving the room. I put my arm around Sam and tried to get him to calm down. As soon a Brax entered, Sam grabbed the bad from him and started to breath into the bag. You would think that it really odd that Sam is acting this way considering he's not related to Sadie. However this was just Sam's regular personality, he would hyperventilate when he heard shocking gossip. Weird right.

"So you're sisters pregnant then." I turned around and nodded at Brax's question. "And who's the lucky guy who knocked her up?"

"You," I said, trying to keep a serious face. He pretended to faint and that made me crack. I burst out laughing but stopped when I felt Sam whack me on the arm. "Dude, what did you do that for?"

"You're supposed to me concentrating on me guys," he cried.

"Shut up," Brax and I both said at the same time.

"So anyway, unless your sister drugged me and then raped me, I don't think I'm gonna be a father anytime soon."

"The dude's called River," I finally admitted. Judging from both of their shocked faces, I guessed that they already knew the guy. "What's with the face Brax?"

"Does this guy have scruffy brown hair and piercings?" Brax asked.

"Yeah, are you friends with the guy?" That earned a snort from Sam.

"Far from it, this guy is called River Fletcher," Sam said, giving me a big clue. Sam's last name is Fletcher which meant…

"HE'S YOUR LONG LOST BROTHER." I was so sure I was right but judging by the look on Brax's face, I was so very wrong.

"Good try, but no, he's our cousin," Brax explained. That would make a lot more sense. Still the long lost brother thing was a lot more awesome. "He just moved here last month."

"What a man whore. He get's my sister pregnant in the first month he gets here." Brax laughed at my comment so I took it, they didn't get along.

"He's our dad's brother's son," Sam said quietly. My eyes widened in shock when I heard this.

"As in your Uncle Larry's son?" Brax and Sam both nodded with a depressed look on their faces. "Does that mean…"

"Yes, our mother's back in town," Brax said with anger in his voice. Ten years ago Larry and Sam's dad, David, used to be very close. I never met Larry but that's what Sam told me. When Larry's wife died it was a horrible tragedy for the family. Larry went through depression but David never gave up on him. However while David was trying to help Larry he had no idea that under his nose, his wife, Sheila, and Larry were having an affair. After three months, it was Brax who caught his mom and his uncle Larry in the act. Instead of trying to explain herself to David she just left with Larry and River, leaving a note saying, "Sorry, I love him."

"Has she…" I started.

"No she hasn't come to visit," Brax said, knowing what I was going to ask.

"Uncle Larry has, but not our own fucking mother," Sam snapped. I walked over to him and gave him a comforting hug. I looked over at Brax and gave him a sympathetic smile.

"Who needs her, you got me," I said, detaching myself from Sam. "I like to think that I have quite a few motherly aspects about me." We all knew that was utter bullshit.

"You're a thousand times better than her," Sam said, attempting a smile. I got up from Sam's bed and picked up my electric guitar, which was leaning on the side of the wall.

"You know what will cheer you guys up?" They both looked at me and smiled when they figured out what I was thinking.

"SCREAMO," We all yelled at the same time. It was a tradition of ours than whenever one of us was having a bad day we could go down to the basement and play a bit of screamo to take out our anger. Brax played the base, Sam played the drums and I played the electric guitar and sang.

"To the basement suckers!"

When I finally got back in the evening after hours of just going mental in the basement, I was surprised to find the house silent for once. I walked in and put my guitar down and then stepped into the living room. There was no sight of anyone. After calling out my family, I realised that no one was at home.

"I'M FREE!" I yelled at the top of my voice. I didn't remember the last time I got a bit of peace and quiet around here. It was crucial that I used this time wisely as I didn't know how long I was free for. After careful consideration, I finally decided.

"I WANNA ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT," I sang along with the stereo whilst dancing around the room playing air guitar. My hair was flying all over the place as I bobbed my head up and down. It was weird how I wasn't even remotely tired after the rock session with the guys. I was so engrossed in singing that it took me a while to realize that the music had stopped.

Oh crap.

I turned around to discover my whole family (plus River) were standing at the door way staring at me. Carl had the remote in his hand and looked furious. River had a small smirk on his face but I also realized that he had suitcases with him.

"So… I take it you guys have sorted everything out because River clearly isn't dead," I joked but Carl gave me a stern look. "What's with the bags?" I asked River. Sadie decided to answer the question for him.

"River is moving in as he needs to be here for me and the baby," she said proudly. "We're also probably going to get married and-"

"Whoa, hold up, nobody said anything about marriage," River said nervously. Carl and Sadie both turned to me with an angry look.

"Well of course you have to marry my daughter, you knocked her up," Carl snapped. Since when did getting someone pregnant automatically mean you have to get married.

"Carl don't you think you're overreacting a bit," I said, knowing that this would anger him more. Carl's glare turned to me.

"You must get married when you get pregnant, it's just a rule." I wonder what century he's living in.

"Mom didn't get married to my dad when she got pregnant," I shot back. I knew I hit a nerve because his face suddenly turned red with anger. Nobody ever talked about my dad in this house because Carl always went mental when the subject was brought up.

"And look how you turned out," he said with hate in his voice. "You're just like your joke of a father."

I stared blankly at him with no emotion.

"Carl, don't…" my mom said lamely.

"What, she has the same ugly face and has his rude personality. She'll end up just like him, drunk and on drugs." I knew that Carl didn't like me but I didn't know he held the same hate towards me that he had of my father. The fact that my mom said nothing just added to the fury building up inside of me.

I just snapped.

I walked straight up to him and punched him square in the face. He yelled out in pain and my mom ran to him with worry. I just walked away. I caught River looking at me but unlike Sadie, who was looking at me with disgust, he was looking at me as if he understood me.

I picked up my baby brother who was oblivious to what was going on and was happily playing with his toys and walked upstairs before Carl could start on me. I knew that in a few minutes Carl would come barging in and the yelling would begin once again.

I watched my little brother innocently play with his toys and desperately wished to be his age again, oblivious to the hate and anger in this family.
