Mason pulled me onto his lap, kissing me. "There is one more thing I have for you."
"There is?" I asked, surprised. There was so much he did for me today. I was already getting tired. What more was there?
He nodded. "A lot to take in, huh?"
I laughed. "I'm used to pressure."
He slipped out from under me and got down on one knee. He pulled out a black box.
Oh. My. Gosh. A small black box. That only meant one thing. But was he really proposing? To me? My head was spinning. It was crazy!
"Hale, you know I love you a lot. And you've been the best friend I've ever had. Will you marry me?"
So much was going on through my head then. The first time he kissed me at school, him holding me in his arms as I slept, telling my dad he loved me. Had he told my dad about this?
I smiled, knowing my nerves were showing more than my skin was visible. "My answer will always be yes."
He smiled back at me. He slipped the ring on my finger and pulled me into his arms, spinning me around.
I laughed and kissed him, leaving no space between us. I definitely loved him. No doubt about that.
