Last Breath

They say when you die, your life flashes before your eyes.

If you're lucky, that little one person show is long and enjoyable.

I am obviously not lucky

The opposite in fact

So when I died, I didn't pay any attention to the show

But more to my fragile breath

Or the shaky pounding of my heart

And to be honest

I was scared

I could feel every subtle movement that my body made

And it was like now that its life was ending, it decided to share all of its secrets

Every heartbeat shook my ribcage

Every expand of my lungs

And as I was dying

As my heart stuttered to a stop

And my last breath exited my body

I had never felt so ALIVE
