This Wealth

I
have grown used to your presence.

like stone grows used to water
and wears down until smooth
to mold with water -
jagged edges soothe away
replaced with compatible conforming roundness.

I
have grown to need you.

like a stray taken in
that comes to crave companionship
and will wander sometimes -
but always comes back
to what is the best of its life.

And a greater woman than me
would reject the insecurity
and stand individually
on her own acceptance and pride.

But, alas, I am lesser
prone to neediness of assurance
and complacent, content in my need
reaped from a field blessed with wealth.

And the wealth was (is) you.
