From its innermost being, the darkness rejoices,

As it searches the world for souls to plunder.

Oh sunlight, we cry with desperate voices,

Why do your rays have to go the horizon under?

Those who resist are merely cast aside,

Darkness has no time to waste itself with war.

Instead, it looks for those who hide,

Behind the false safety of their door.

It laughs, guffaws, at those who shake,

Their weakness only makes it stronger.

With its mighty roar, the earth begins to quake,

Why must the night last any longer?

Will day arise and free us from the night?

Save us, please, our only hope is the light!
