As we grow up were told to let go of the things that hurt us

To move on from all the pain

As we grow up parents never tell us

To hold on to the friends we've gained.

It doesn't matter if I met you in second grade

Or freshman year of my college band

I try to hold on to every friend

Whose still reaching out to hold my hand

.

I can be ten years old or I can be almost twenty

But the years of friendship whenever started

I still hold to my heart dearly

But to see you as if I were watching a ghost

Coasting in and out of my life

I don't remember when we stopped talking

But I remember none of us put up a fight

.

As we grow up were told to let go of the things that hurt us

To move on from all the pain

Parents never teach us

To hold on to the friends we've made

Why don't I hear your secrets

Nothing comes from your mouth not even lies

You don't even speak to me anymore

Don't I at least deserve a goodbye?
