I'm being followed.

So I run faster.

They do too.

I turn the corner,

And I slip.

They do too.

I take advantage of the shared blunder,

And pick up the pace.

They do too.

I make it to the gate outside my house,

And slip inside.

They do too.

I burst through the door

And make a run for the stairs.

They do too.

I'm at a dead end.

So I turn and face them,

To find only a shadow.

My own.

It is exhausted,

And frustrated with me.

I am too.

I talk with my shadow,

And share my confusion.

I think I am crazy.

They do too.
