Leaving before I'm gone

For that place is no longer home

Even holding they who love me

And here is but a rest stop to someplace greater

But oh! It is a place that makes my heart sing

And henceforth shall, remembered,

Bring a charming smile to my lips

But once gone it will

Only be fondly remembered

As it was left behind

Similar but not unlike

The home of twenty years

And my family bloodline

But I've grown

As have they

In the time each was away

The love is there still

But the distance doesn't make the heart grow fonder

I've left, moving forward

Leaving the past where it belongs

But the me of then was already left

Before me of now was gone
