Memories and Friends

.

Introduction

.

Who can bear the pouring rain?

Who can hear his voice again?

Who can walk the empty street

And stumble not for all your pain?

Who can hide the heart that whispers

Elegant and bitter lines?

Who can keep their eyes set north

Losing hope a thousand times?

.

Did I not see you when we were younger?

Did you not think that I would wonder?

Are my eyes so darkened that I would not

See what your words have tried to cover?

Am I full and satisfied

To follow where you've gone?

And if I don't, do you suppose

I won't follow you at all?

.

If I should live a hundred years

And never see her smile

Never cry another tear

Or run another mile

If I should grow old alone and realize

Too late I had gone wrong

That I'd wasted more than I had won

And could not take back what I'd lost

Then I might see after my chance was gone

It wasn't what it seemed

Neither do I want to pass away young

Nor outlive all my dreams.

.

Who is moved by simple words?

Whose heart is weak and quickly stirred?

Who can hear the clamor well

While whispers pass by undiscerned?

Who can hear the thunder

After seeing lightning fall?

And who can hear your heart speak

When your lips move not at all?

.

Memories and Friends

.

Sunrise shines on silent screams

When you're too lost to fall asleep

When you don't want the things you need

And you can't see what you used to see

.

I cannot argue with what you say

I felt the same way yesterday

And when I see (my memory)'s face

The feeling falls on me again

.

You said, Thank you for the memories

Like a map they are directing me

To a place you never thought I'd be

It's coming like a fantasy

.

A fantasy that fills your room

The strangest sights and most bitter (memories)

And things you had no power to do

Run through your mind and all come true

.

When evening falls you don't realize

You've long lost sight of earthly skies

Looking back it's really no surprise

I should have seen it (drawing nigh)

Drawing nigh like death.

.

If I should live a hundred years

And never see her smile

Never cry another tear

Or run another mile

If I should grow old alone and realize

Too late I had gone wrong

That I'd wasted more than I had won

And could not take back what I'd lost

Then I might see after my chance was gone

It wasn't what it seemed

Neither do I want to pass away young

Nor outlive all my dreams.

.

So you sleep and you arise

You've long lost sight of earthly skies

Their sunlight doesn't reach your (memories)

And still it comes as no surprise

.

When you had thought you'd found your gold

And someone you could forever hold

The ending to you no one told

It struck and you were all alone

.

Sunrise shines on silent eyes

Keeping time with moments passing

Turning to your shelves and clothes

To your heart's love everlasting

I didn't think it would come like this

I didn't think it would be this way

I thought I'd have the words to help you

You thought you'd find a quick escape

.

But sunrise shines…

You open your eyes.

Sunrise shines on silent screams.

Day rushes in…

Your eyes close again.

You forget what daytime means.

.

Sunrise shines on silent screams

But you forget what sunrise means

When you realize you're only eighteen

And you've already outlived all your dreams

How can I help you realize

When you've long lost sight of heavenly skies

It comes to me as no surprise

The memories betray the ending.
